Tim whateverhismameis is a proper twunt.

based on what? his business success? creating a market for pubs in town that are open to families? for stocking a range of beers from across the world? or just because he has a particular political point of view?

Some Wetherspoon pubs are just about ok, some are absolute pits ( looking at you Opera House, Tunbridge Wells ).

Generally I avoid them now unless they are the only pub in town.

Not forgetting of course, cheaper beer!

There's a quite a few reasons. I'll start with him laying into the supposed Remain "doom mongers" with their "project fear" and then popping up on tv last week with a fear and doom laden interview about restricting immigration. In my mind that's hypocritical. What would you call it?

I'd like to add I don't have a particular issue with the pubs themselves, just their owner.

i cant find this interview, so unsure of the weight of his view and how doom laden it is. he's always been pro-immigration, representing the side of the Brexit argument that we should leave but retain free movement. naive prehaps but consistent if he's saying he doesnt want restricted immigration.

Personally I feel that JD Wetherspoon are to be applauded for providing an old folks waiting room and much-needed public conveniences in North Street.

The knobhead owner? Heavily promotes Brexit via his pubs, media and on tv, and is now bleating about possible curbs to immigration affecting his business. Oh, and suggesting we can all buy NZ cheese.

He supports the free movement of workers. Said so before the referendum.

Decent enough for what you pay. A decent full English for £4, and I'll not hesitate in popping in for a drink on a night out as it's considerably cheaper than anywhere else.

The traditional breakfast is about £3.20 and the large breakfast is about £4.95. Throw in unlimited coffee refills ( just over a £1 ) and it represents very good value for money. Good range of guest beers at competitive prices. 1000 pubs and still growing, indicates a successful business model. They are popular and suit a lot of people. Others sneer and look down their noses. Down to individual choice.

Probably not, his business model is nothing like Greens, interesting that you don't deny that he employs 35,000 people in a successful business, what exactly is it that you do that makes you superior to him?

Just pointing out that just because you head up a big business empire does not mean that you cannot make mistakes. As for being superior? He was a fervant Brexitier.

We used to buy a lot of NZ product, particularly dairy but that wasn't in the interest of the EU, particularly Germany. Protectionism at work.

It was on one of the morning tv programs. Try YouTube maybe. And my point wasn't immigration per se, more the hypocrisy he displayed with claiming Remainers were doom merchants and then predicting doom himself. Having just Googled his views myself (and there's lots of them!) he seems quite a doomsday expert. As I say, hypocrite, or maybe just arrogantly believing his predictions are correct whilst everyone else's isn't.

Yes, the EU hit their economy hard with the tariffs put up on their products once we entered the common market. It was disgusting how we didn't prioritise our own kin from NZ but gave so many £££ for the French farmers to grow stuff nobody wanted. Still, that is the EU for you.

I personally think it makes more sense, for many reasons, to buy more locally. I'm a bit old fashioned in this sense.

This looks like it's now becoming another tiresome EU thread which will ultimately be dominated by 3 people. Apologies for the part I have played. It's Sunday, I'm now out. Have a good day everyone.
