Related point: do you get/watch the Bike channel? Chock-full of cycling, believe it or not although with frequent triathlons thrown in for a bit of balance.
I occasionally look at it but I'm not an avid viewer.
TBH most of the time I forget it's there.

I know this is generally uninteresting but after more than seven years and almost 100 runs I went under 20 minutes this morning. Unexpected as I had ice-cream and beer last night. Never thought I'd do it, possibly never will again. I don't look forward to many things but elated by this.

Can recommend downloading My Net Diary and tracking your macros daily, gives you flexibility in your diet.

That actually is interesting - or at least a bloody good effort. Top work. Have you been doing anything different training-wise ?

In case anyone is interested in the really pointy end of long distance running, the European Ultra Marathon 24 hour champs are on at the moment. 1.1km circuit in France, run for 24 hours, whoever goes furthest wins. Likely to be something around 260-270km (so 50+ consecutive sub-28 minute parkruns if that helps explain it !) that wins it..................

The leader is smashing the field to pieces at the moment after 5 hours or so....... http://www.breizhchrono.com/detail-de-la-course.php?crs_id=10174

They are mental, they really are.
I was talking to a jogger at work about it, he told me the story of an ultra marathon runner, after his first event.

Apparently it all went well enough until he was driving home.
He bloke in question suffered a massive cramp, knocked his driver seat badly out of position, then was sick everywhere still stuck in his car.

That's no different to a regular marathon.

You balls out sprint the first 385 yards, then hang on for the following 26 miles.

Simples.

Some good running by all today.

First run since Bright 10 and left hamstring is still really tight. Felt like I took it fairly easy today but ran 9 miles in 1:04:03 which is 7:07 per mile (very pleased with this). Decided to open up last mile and ran 6:22 so fitness is definitely coming back but still running with some discomfort.

Really stretched after so hoping with a couple off weeks of football I can get myself back towards peak fitness and most importantly running without pain.

Saw Jesus this week. He was happy to not have to go near my foot. Got him on my neck and although first vertebrae is
rheumatically swollen he got a lot of pressure off the neck and driving is a bit 'safer' now..

To the point. I told him that you'd had troubles on the Bright10 despite the fast time. He said he doesn't think he can help you any further and that Pilates and yoga are the best options. Some messiah, huh? Good luck, it seems complex, you need to get that sorted out to crack on with getting new pbs.

He was also impressed that a 48 year old neo German could do 3:05 marathon, as we were.

Good luck with your recovery. I'm still crocked after 10 weeks. Feel better inside but can't even walk on it without making it worse. Off for 6 weeks in the Himalayas end of November. Decided to go regardless of condition and will volunteer in a school, watch England in India on TV and sample the Himalayan black resin for its therapeutic properties.
So no running till mid January but hopefully a lot of walking. Swimming and easy cycling till it goes.

Thumbs up for the typed content rather than the foot picture :)

Hope it eases soon, sounds rubbish but your Himalayan plan is at least far more interesting than office work and running in the dark in Brighton. Have a good trip.

Very likely Dean Karnazes. There's a VERY graphic description of it in his book!

After my Brighton Marathon thrashing by you this year (Jesus said you enjoyed telling him) I am hoping that we both get going soon. I need to finish a marathon 1 second faster than you next year.

Fantastic effort. It'll take me a while to get back to sub-21 again, but sub-20 is the real goal. I'll get there one day...
