May was almost a nobody?Longest serving Home Secretary in 50 years,or doesn't that count because it's not an EU post?

Yes, yes I did and I acknowledged it and explained that really it didnt offer much in terms of his relevence, but well done to you for talking to an EU bureaucrat , did you get to meet him because of your exemplary spelling, well done you.

I am guessing his insightfulness didnt run to those other issues that you have chosen to ignore and your bestest oldest friend never contemplated.

What makes you think I, or anyone else, can be arsed to answer 5 of your piss-poor questions. You're lucky I bothered to answer one, especially given that it is a football night and I've been busy at The Amex supporting my team.

Well you chose to try to answer one with an irrelevence, thought it would give you 4 more tries to redeem yourself, thats all.

But for you to attempt to answer one was greatly appreciated especially in light of you being such a unique and committed fan of our club.

Not the real one
Why in these debate threads do people have to answer one another's list of questions, that they know the answer to already and have set the questions up to try to prove a point? When the irrelevance of them is pointed out it goes all 'answer my question!' bollocks. It's like people quoting odscure articles to try to back up a poor argument or worse asking another poster to find links and quotes because you know they don't have time or can't be arsed. A hypothetical example 'Find me a quote where Boris said we would give 350million to the NHS, come on, where he 100% quoted those exact words?!'.... you know he said it..., everyone knows he said it, but to find an actual quote with those words being quoted is difficult and time consuming. I don't mind concrete facts being quoted, but all this type of 'answer my questions' and 'post links for me' style of debating does, is make the thread go around in circles.

"Downing Street has said it is "very likely" MPs will be able to vote on the final Brexit agreement reached between the UK and the European Union."

Yet another climb down/u-turn by Theresa May.

The vote is a hopeless and cynical nonsense. I am going to apply exactly the same rules when offering the children their evening meal today. "Chaps. I'm offering you a vote on whether you want this macaroni cheese I've just cooked. You are free to say you don't want it. If you do, you won't have any tea at all. Goodnight."

erm, if he said it its really, really easy to find with google. someone running the campgain put it on the side of their bus and in press releases. so why attribute something to a person who never said it? what im seeing is claims of things said that weren't, or twisting what was said, building false histories that are then used to attack the leave position.

It was a little bit funny in the context of this minor rant, you then started your post with the word 'why' .....................

I agree - And while your question was hypothetical, whether he actually said it or not is irrelevant once you post this image, right?

The girl next to me has just told me a client from Birmingham is trying to renegotiate a euro currency contract with her due to the drop in value of sterling. She asked me what I thought :lolol:

I'm a staunch anti brexit chap but that bus sign never bothered me much, it never promised anything and has been attributed to people who had nothing to do with it as well as the fact it was only really used to highlight the money spent on the EU. I think it was designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator but in and of itself not that offensive. The type of person that bus would have appealed to had already made their mind up to vote out anyway.

Edit: meant for the other thread but all much of a muchness eh!

I did not vote for the Conservatives. But they won the election.

They still have a duty to work within the framework of our democracy, otherwise what is the point of parliament. Its almost as if May's unelected status gives her the power to do whatever she likes.

Only yesterday it was announced the Heathrow / Gatwick decision would be decided by a cabinet sub commitee. They are making it up as go...

and how about the Greek debacle

Re your second question. I assume you mean the inability of Greece to pay its debts and the effect that has had on other Eurozone members? My view is that there's nothing wrong with Greece being a member state of the EU and part of the Single Market, the problems start when money is loan in vast quantities and then the country is admitted to the Eurozone. In that regard I think that it was the right decision for the UK NOT to become part of the Eurozone.

Greece has defaulted on its external debt five times in the modern era (1826, 1843, 1860, 1894 and 1932). In 1985, Greece had the world’s largest per capita public debt. It has an endemic avoidance of tax built into its DNA. However, it is a desirable state to have in the EU because of strategic and cultural reasons alone.

Some Eurocrats and bankers made some bad decisions about lending to Greece and admittance to the Euro but the Greek population has not contributed to immigration problems and there is a huge demand for their tourism and agricultural produce.

I was referring to your content regarding the 'crap government being held to account'. That's when an election comes in handy and as they still have a few more years, I don't quite know what you mean.

And on the point of May, and may I emphasise again that I do not support the Tories, you and others keep banging on on about her being unelected as PM. Well we never have an election to decide who is PM. She is there according to the rules of her party and continually moaning about it is pointless.

Regarding making it up as they go along. That's called life. We all do that, have some vague idea or even a strong idea but circumstances change and so do plans. So all governments make it up as they go along. Nothing wrong with that as long as they have sensible contingencies.
