Thameslink are fine...sort of. The 6.57 was cancelled yesterday and it terminated at St Pancras today which was fine for me but not for those going further on.

Talks break down as Horton backtracks on his 'absolute guarantee' made yesterday, what a surprise

you cant backtrack on somthing that you didnt say. you can get in to semantics on what he did say and mean, but he did not say this. RMT have made an issue out of one word "absolutely" and neither they or Southern are being clear on the exact differences in each other position.

Sadly he takes a different position in negotiation to what he takes while spinning on national radio.

Exactly. It's clear Southern want the 'exceptional circumstances' get out for a second person on board, and the RMT refuse to entertain that, as they see it as the first step in removing the second person completely.

Again, it's just a shame for the RMT that they forgot to complain, kick up a fuss or strike when other services went DOO and single person. Their case may have some merit if not for this 'oversight'.

Where have the RMT lied ?

in the past week the memo that wasn't a memo and this "absolute guarantee" that was never said. further back i cannot say as the sands of debate and agreements change, there have been statements that didnt stand up or embelished. we know Southern lies to further their objectives, we should accept RMT do so too.

Same for me for the the just over 1 in 3 who voted for Brexit.

Massive overlap between the two. Tories foisted this referendum on us for their own internal party reasons, and MADE us express a preference. And if you have to have a pop at someone, how about having a pop at the ELEVEN MILLION eligible voters who couldn't even be arsed to vote?

Cannot be clearer. Southern willing to have 2 on train. However if 2nd person doesnt turn up they want to run the train. What the heck is wrong with that.

As soon as the 2nd person isn't deemed a necessity what do you think will happen?

Is this so unreasonable?

1. Southern has guaranteed that every train which has a conductor today will have a conductor or on board supervisor in the future. However, on trains where the driver has full control of train, if for any reason an on board supervisor is unavailable we want the flexibility to still run the train for the benefit of our passengers.

2. An example of when we might run without a second person would be at times of disruption if an on-board supervisor was delayed on an inbound train and couldn’t get to his next train on time. In this circumstance we might let the train leave with the no second person, and arrange for an on-board supervisor to join part way through journey at an intermediate station. The RMT would expect us to cancel the train entirely, unnecessarily inconveniencing hundreds of passengers.

3. There is a full and fair offer on the table that most workers would love to have – a guaranteed job for five years, above-inflation pay increases for the next two years and guaranteed overtime.
