To an extent I agree but will never happen, the premier league is the big league. there too much money and they won't want to make the quality worse.

We have the Burnley Keeper and CB in the squad, they are in the top 10 of least goals against and from all reports have been defending very well.
So what if they play for Burnley? Surely they get more practice?
What percentage can play for Wales? or NI?
It is easy to blame the oversea's players, but we have been shit way before the quota rule was taken away

It depends if the FA want to make the national team better. All they have to do is make a rule that in games under their jurisdiction which the Premier FL and all local football is, no team can field more than 3 non English players. They would obviously have to set an effective date in the future for teams to get their players sorted and those not required transferred away. Simple just takes a bit of balls.to withstand the flack.

You're a brave man, i wanted to suggest Danns but didn't have the cojones.
We don't need two ball players. We need someone like Danns who is an out an out brute, gets stuck in. Leaves the football to the other players. Like a Ferdinand/Vidic partnership!
Keane and Danns are my choice too

But we don't need two ball playing defenders. It doesn't work.
Leave the hard hitting tackling to Danns, then Keane/Stones are more ball playing CB's not afraid to go forward with the ball

How far have we come, we have a player who was on loan to the Albion in the squad, we are discussing if one of our players is better than one who has just been picked. We also were very unlucky not to sweep aside a Burnley team that now have players in the England squad.
Just a thought after the dire days of Gillingham..where we were playing two divisions below our ground share owners.

It makes my mind boggle at times. I marvel at the skills we are watching each week, now. Gutted we didn't go up, but this team is wonderful and I hope it stays that way all season.

I dont think the FA actually govern the PL do they?
All the clubs are members of the FA (otherwise no cup or continental fun for them!) but I don't think have any power to introduce any rules into the competition themselves, though they might have some sort of veto power if memory serves (or, of course, I'm completely wrong).

You cant like football if you dont like watching Stones or don't think he is a proper player.
I put the blame firmly at the feet of Roberto Mythinez as to why Everton were so poor at the back, he lost his job on the back of it.
Stones is already very good and will be chased by Barca and Real in the next few years I have no doubt.

Very true, remember the days when a Brighton player who could kill a ball dead only came along once every few seasons?
As I pointed out earlier in the thread, the FL and the PL could introduce quotas if they wish to. I believe the FA could, in theory, do so for the FA Cup, whether they could in practice is another argument. It would be pretty difficult to do as there'd be no restrictions on the league squads - so where would the players come from?

Yes, they took control of the Premier League in 1992.

Oh I'm not saying that they couldn't, merely that the FA wouldn't be able to do it without the PL agreeing as well.

The FA have no control over the FL, this is independently governed so couldn't enforce this on cup games.

Keane is a very good centre half and major reason they secured promotion last season. It not unfeasible to think that him and Lewis could form a England centre half pairing one day
