Im sure this "vaping" fad is making people more addicted to smoking. I know people that have never smoked but now "vape" and i know people that have quit smoking but spend all day puffing on a vape that they are actually taking in more nicotine than if they just had a cigarette. Im sure once the fad dies out most will take up smoking cigarettes again.
Completely ignorant post, but never mind the facts eh. I'm "sure" your anecdotal evidence is much more reliable.

My mother is 85 and still smokes, and doesn't have any more health issues than another person of that age. She always offers me 1 when I make a visit, which I accept.

It is a gamble, like trying to climb Everest, or parachute jumping, but you enjoy it and accept the risks.

A lot of people who have never smoked died a lot younger than my mother is today.

It's a bloody selfish gamble.

Not only is it utterly anti social, it is also a choice. My partner is a nurse and the stories she tells me about the time and effort she has to put into looking after smokers really irritates me.

The NHS is suffering from bed shortages, staff shortages and money shortages. How would you like to be refused a bed because it was occupied by a smoker who either refused or wasn't capable of giving up? And yes - that happens.

To wheel out the old "I've smoked for 60 years and am fine" is a dangerous and pathetic argument.

The smoking rate in England has fallen, with just 16.9% of the population now a smoker, the lowest on record.

How typical is NSC. Do you smoke?

The government will be pulling their hair out over those figures as smokers raise £12 billion for the treasury. If smokers stopped completely then at least £8 billion would be needed to be found = tax rises.

I smoked from the age of 20 to 28. I have not had a cigarette for just over 10 years.

Looking at the price of 20 Marlboro Lights, I think I would need a hefty pay rise to be able to smoke a packet a day now.

I used to smoke and have given up, started again, given up etc for about the last 15yrs. If I make it to 65/70 i'll start again for sure. Smoking is big and clever and I personally love it :)

Slightly Off topic...but anyone else remember those chocolate cigarettes from years ago...chocolate..now theres an addiction

I gave up smoking in April. I've put on weight......it can't have anything to do with the chocolate and lack of exercise, I reckon it's my bodies way of seeing me through the winter!
Those choccy fags were all the rage in the late 60's. A way of preparing kids for their teens sadly

Gave up 10 years ago and feel miles better for it TBH. Did nick one of my friend's ciggys after a day on the lash last year watching another mate do White Collar Boxing and it felt good at the time but I was coughing like no tomorrow the day after.
