I also have some sympathy with people who left early, it was pissing down, the match was rubbish and the trains fooked. To be honest we never looked like getting back into this game and were second best in virtually every department, not one player but half the team were poor including Bruno, Duffy and Murray, football is a passion but also it's entertainment. I usually try and leave around 90 minutes to get a couple of minutes head start over the bulk of the crowd, well obviously unless it's a draw and we are all over them. Saturday was not like that, heads were down and we had obviously lost this game, plus if you pay to be entertained you can leave when you like.

If that picture is really at 80 minutes that's totally shocking. I find it hard to believe that was the time. It didn't look that empty to me at that time.

I don't find it 'totally shocking'. A bit disappointing maybe.

This happens at pretty much every ground, and most sports where the game is effectively dead with a few minutes left. It ain't going to change.

Really? My understanding is east stand holds 5,404 according to it's Wikipedia page - no where near half full.

I left on 85 minutes and I don't recall the East Stand being as empty at that!

Just along from us was a bloke with two young girls, who only stuck it out until half-time. I was in the top of the East Stand so not the cheapest of tickets too.

As we filed out after the match was finished, I did notice at least six discarded flags. To have brought the flags in for the match surely shows a certain commitment to the cause, so seemed odd that these same people chucked the flags as they left. Yes, we were poor, but nevertheless...

Flags are in a bucket after the turnstiles in the east lower, perhaps they are in the upper as well?

Not at all. But the two of you are coming across as a bit, well, thick. That's nothing to do with being a better fan. Just better intelligence. You even think I like Palace more than Brighton after taking a comment at face value. It's ironic you call yourself Thunder Bolt when you're anything but Lightening quick. I'm bored with playing with you, it's too easy so I'm out now.

To be fair you have also misspelled your name. I will correct it for you

Given the ongoing need to generate income I would suggest that the club make the turnstyles the only way out before the final whistle. For those that wish to leave early they myst use their ticket which then automatically debuts an exit fee to the card they used to pay for the ticket on a sliding scale from £25 before the 70th minute.
A win/win as 'fans' can still leave early and the club get additional income.

Have you by any chance ever worked for Ryanair's revenue management team? You could do with an idea like that! :)

I actually think they should lock the doors and stop them. For ****s sake surely any proper fan would not leave early.

I'd love to hear some valid reasons for it.

I left 30 seconds before the second goal. Not through choice exactly but because my 6yr old daughter was attending her second game and said by that point she'd had enough.

So I had a choice to make: either make her stay until the end and then make her queue in the rain for a train, thereby risking her not wanting to go again OR I did as she asks, hope she enjoyed the experience and wants to go again and then ultimately becomes a fan for life like her dad.

I opted for choice 2.

Very very disappointing to see hundreds of fans leave on the 70th (seventieth) minute when Brentford scored their second. In the East especially, scores of Dads taking their kids towards the exit - what sort of parenting is that? Club should take details and pass onto Social Services to take them into care.

In the words of Klopp, the mentality of British fans needs changing. We are there to do a job. Not sit there like a TV audience. What sort of signal does it send to the players when with 25minutes to go thousands of fans have given up (and don't bother with all the sarchy replies about players gave up long before, that's garbage). Nope it's embarassing and disloyal. Makes a mockery of the clubs mantra.

So should we change it to #alone? On the evidence of yesterday, it would be far more appropriate sadly. Sort yourself out if you were one of those tantrum throwing early leavers and get back in your seat next time. Queue loads of 'I've paid my money, I can do what I want' replies (which is entirely the mentality Klopp was on about needs changing!)

live and let live? Funnily enough the last time I left a game earlier was at Brentford, probably about 15 years go. I think we were 4-0 in the 66th minute. I don't mind people leaving, not worth getting upset about.

whilst i agree with the OP up to a point and I am not a fan of leaving early - it really annoys me that everyone accuses the East stand of being the worst offender. Is that because you all sit (and I include the @wearebrighton twitter mob in this) in the north and the west and can't see that your stands are equally at fault and just as ****ing empty as the east.

About time this was said, i sit in the east stand and the north was like a fire drill. I always stay till the bitter end no matter what, probably because i come by coach!

We do not have 24000 diehard fans, we have maybe 6000. The other 18000 go to be entertained, when they're not they **** off and get on with doing something different. The football from the Albion was rubbish yesterday so fans decided to leave early and avoid the rush at the end. It probably backfired as so many left early.

It was still bloody busy an hour after the final whistle though, I blame the rain.

These 6000 diehard fans arrived after the Gillingham seasons?
