Chris Hughton not happy, at least he is bothered by us losing unlike some of the people on here

Big difference between not being happy and having a tantrum about it. I bet CH didn't have one of those or completely over react did he?

We won't finish top 2, certainly capable of top 6 though. Need a striker and the Stephens saga needs to be sorted asap. We all know he is refusing to play.

Stockdale will cost us again. Can anyone tell me when was the last time he claimed a corner by catching the ball or making a save whereas he had to dive to his right/left?

He can only save shots that are directed straight at him. He' shocking.

Top two!? We all know that top 6 maybe top 10 is the target unless you are a team with parachute payment money sloshing about. They are the only ones who can realistically aim for top two. Anyone who seriously thinks we can make the top two has clearly not been paying attention over the last 5 years!

Top 10

Another game which a very, very poor ref flattens with a stupid sending off. Frustrated at Sam as it was simply not worth risking, but mainly frustrated at the inconsistency of the referee. A couple of their players on cards continually bringing down our players but he fails to even things out. I didn't even think it was a foul btw, if anything it looked like the keeper punted him. Yellow card for that is an absolute joke.

Very poor first half, but started very promisingly in the second. Hit the bar, then similarly to boro as we were playing alot better he proceeds to send off Baldock. Game over and cue 35 mins of Newcastle time wasting and 10 yard sideways/reverse passing.

To be honest, both extremes of opinion piss me right off on here. Some of the players singled out don't deserve to be lambasted, but at the same time others stating Newcastle are some godly team and untouchable are also speaking toilet. They've been beaten twice already this season.

The defeat I can take, even the manner of the defeat I can suffer, what has me gutted at the moment is that Stephens was not brought on despite it being glaringly obviously Sidwell was having a very poor game. We really missed him in the middle, with Kayal being massively overworked. A midfield three might have worked out better. Ah well, if there was a game to bring Dale back into the fold it was this one. I've conceded we are losing him which is a massive concern, as today and reading should be indicative enough that we cannot replace him with what we already have.

Just an off day. They were better than us on the day, and we had a first rate knob as a ref.
Take the international break, re-group and come back stronger.
People need to get a grip, its only 1 game against a top club that have broke the bank to get back up.
Not the end of the world.

Very much agree. We lost to a far better, Premiership-quality team on the day and we didn't remotely capitulate. Ref didn't help with the Baldock sending off, which seemed incredibly harsh. No malice at all in that "challenge" (IMO) and Sels made a right old meal of it. We wasted several crossing opportunities from some decent free kick positions, especially in the first half (Jiri not at his best). Murray had a poor game and our subs were arguably made too late. Had Knocky popped in his crossbar chance, and Sels not made a great point blank save from Kayal, the result could have been even more respectable. Stockers had a lot less to do than I thought he would. Although not our finest hour it was not a disaster and we'll learn from the experience. We just lost 0-2 with 10 men to a strong, well organised, well managed and well funded team who are the bookies' favourite to go up automatically. No disgrace in that... although as an expectant Albion fan it was tough to watch at times. Keep the faith:albion2:

There is a lot of sense in this.

A bad performance all round for Brighton but the eventaul result hinged on 3 mistakes:

(a)1st goal bad positioning a talking with the back four.
(b) Stephens should have been on for Sidwell after 20 mins to shackle Shelvey but at the worst when SB was red carded to give us an attacking option from midfield
(c) Poor decision by ref for 2nd yellow but keeper made a meal of a nothing attempt to block him clearing tge ball.

Very few positives today but we will come again and finish runners up to Newcastle who will walk the division.

Unfortunately the game was lost before we started, due to CH's team selection. There is simply no other way to put it - it was obvious he got it wrong at the start of the game, and so it proved to be the case. The biggest worry is that this is a trend following on from last season and that he still hasn't learned what is a really obvious lesson.

Here we go another expert FIFA manager.
