I think people are misconstruing Cheeky Monkey's comment. The point he makes about Farah not having British biology, technically he is correct. He has the physiology of an African runner.

I recall watching a documentary about the link between genetics and athletics and the fact that there is a clear correlation between long and short distance running, and being born in East or West Africa. There is a difference in the amount of "fast twitch" muscle fibres amongst long distance runners. African nations, particularly East African nations dominate long distance running. Kenya and Ethiopia have excelled in both male and female events for many years. West African's tend to be stronger in short distance running. This also explains why a large proportion of 100m sprinters are black or mixed race. Christophe Le'Maitre is one of very few white men who regularly makes 100m finals.

All I can add is, read his autobiography.

I read it back in February. It will tell you everything you need to know about how he loves being British.

Probably been done to death, but why do the Brits go so overboard about him ? He was born in Somalia and lives in Oregon. Same can be said about some of our cricket and rugby teams (judging by accents in interviews)..........the hysteria about awards gets on my **** , how about the equestrian team ........oh, not such spectacular sports !

Britain First.........Oh, hang on Black, Muslim Briton first.... Your thread is RACIST but you may not understand.

It makes me laugh that so many people in this country complain about immigrants not taking on our language, culture and don't identify themselves as British and yet here is a man that came to Britain as a child and appears to have totally bought in to Britain and identifies himself as part of this great country. For me, Mo Farah is a great example of how multiculturalism can work (however often it seems not to). The guy is an inspiration to a lot of young kids especially from ethnic minority backgrounds of how Britain can work for them and how they can be part of Britain and be proud to be British. Mo's success can only be a positive for me and I am proud to call him a fellow Brit

It will be interesting to see if Mo returns to the UK when his career is over.

To live next door to Roger Moore, Sean Connery and Tom Jones?

FFS - RACIST!!!!

Nobody is misconstruing the comment, the thread is about whether Farah is British or not. Cheeky Monkey is saying that he can't be because he doesn't have British biology which is totally racist.

He is the far rights worst nightmare, a very popular, top bloke who is the most successful athlete, ever to represent our country.
I love him

woah there fella, seem to be going to far the other way now, ignoring many other athletes and subjective on which disciplines you rate. for my money it would be Daley Thompson.

Daley Thompson 3 golds at 3 consecutive world or olympic championships. Mo Farah 8 golds at 4 consecutive world or olympic championships.

Mo Farah fell over in the 10,000 and still won! Definitely our best ever.

Very subjective - if you saw Mo on that resurrection of Superstars they did a couple of years ago, you'd realise he is ABSOLUTELY SHITE at anything but running (it was almost embarrassing). They are both complete legends in my book - can't say one is superior to the other.

Personally I think of Mo as British and comes across as quite a nice human being (as far as I can know).

But your post is full of your own prejudice, you are assuming those that complain of immigrants not assimilating as an ignorant view, when it seems a reasonable view to hold and then you have muddled up immigration with multiculturalism as if its the same thing.

Mo doesn't seem to demand some Somalian culture and doesnt seem to define himself through his religion, his success has been driven by his genes no doubt but all underpinned by a Western/British culture of access to sports science, medicine and a programme of hard work, he hasnt brought any other 'culture' so cannot be an example of 'multiculturalism' if he hasnt introduced nor demanded anything different to what was already here.

In a way you seem to see a black face or foreign name and instinctively assume that he or she must be an example of something different to you, when in actual fact most are rubbing along just fine and doing similar things than everyone else and could do without the narrow band of an inspirational 'black' sporting or musical stars foisted upon them from middle class white men.
