Been saying this for a while but people seem far too keen to point out what a shit season he had last year. At least that's somewhat credible reasoning, it's those that say he looked shit in the last game at the Amex whose opinion perplexes me, since every time he got the ball I cringed in my seat.
Though, I doubt we'd pick him up for any less than 3m.

Correct we weren't. League one straight to the premier league. And like it or not, getting promoted a few times to the premier league is success for certain teams and that will obviously involve some relegations as believe it or not it's a very tough league.
You can't change the rules just because they don't suit you. Same as the idea of abolishing the playoffs all because you narrowly missed out on automatic promotion.
I'm sure Brighton will one day reach the premier league and will enjoy the benefits on offer

Haven't you reached the playoffs 3 times in recent seasons and narrowly missed out on automatic last season finishing miles clear of 21 other teams? I think you're competing just fine and in a much better state than many ex premier league teams

The rules need changing because they reward failure. I will continue to say this whether we reach the 'hallowed heights' of the Premier League or not. Failure should not be rewarded. What sort of lesson is that? Why should overspending in one league, getting relegated and then overspending more to get back to that league be considered anything less than piss poor business?
Playoffs should also change. I will say the same this season should we not make them. 3rd place should be an auto entry to the final.
There's a lot wrong with the organisational aspects of football and "that's how it had always been" is a fundamentally shit argument for not addressing the problems.

We're losing money all the time we don't get promoted. Parachute payments have gone up recently.

I have always been against parachute payments. Club's should have to agree proper contracts. You play well get promoted you get a pay rise. You fail you get relegated why shouldn't you get a wage reduction.

Exactly. If there were no parachute payments, clubs would have to adjust accordingly. It's a farce to have financial fair play when three clubs each year come down from the Premier League with a massive advantage because they failed the previous season. How is that fair?

Alternatively, without parachute payments clubs who get into the Premier League may not bother to compete in it. You wouldn't risk staying in that division by signing Premier League standard players on Premier League wages if there is a chance you will be back in the Championship in a years time and financially crippled by it. As a result, you could end up with all three teams who go up coming straight back down every season. See Burnley and Blackpool, both of whom have taken this approach and couldn't last more than a season in the division.
A similar thing happens in rugby - the team that get promoted into the Premiership every year have no financial assistance to full back on and so rather than bankrupting themselves, they simply stick with a second tier wage model and end up being relegated. In the case with London Welsh a few seasons ago, by losing massively every week.

Well happy with the Norwood signing. Providing everyone stays put, our central midfield will be exceptionally strong. A bit miffed if Pritchard goes to Norwich but if he does then so be it. I've always found Norwich to be an utterly tedious football club with delusions of grandeur. This saga hasn't particularly changed my view. There are other players out there and probably for less than £8million.

The trouble with the Premier League is that it does not differentiate between outstanding and mediocre. Both ends of the spectrum are financially rewarded.
The knock-on is that players and agents don't really have to worry. The most bang average player can have a dire season, get relegated and still get picked up by a team next season. And on and on and on.
When will the day roll around that football as a business is treated like literally every other business on the planet (except maybe banks) wherein poorly performing workers are fired, not given f**king pay-rises.

Whether Pritchard is a good signing or not Norwich fans on forum are a bit miffed as they already have 15 midfielders!!
