It was ever thus.

Football-wise, you would think that we would represent a better opportunity for him.

Money-wise, we can't possibly compete with a club in receipt of parachute payments

*******s

Not sure , Norwich have as many season ticket holders I think and are in the Prem league regularly and should be top 2

Decent atmosphere down there and more "profile" if played for them than us I imagine.

clever tactic from the albion by utilising Naylor to spread word of an illegal bid, this will put norwich off and make sure spurs have none of it, paving the way for us to secure the signature.

Norwich have moved for Pritchard as Burnley have enquired about Robbie Brady.

It's frustrating but we put to much stock in our love for our club.

If you were a postman in Brighton earning £500 a week and got offered the chance to work in Hove for £675 a week you'd agree to do it. Then if, at the last minute, Saltdean Post Office said they were hiring postman for £1500 a week I think we'd all be tempted!!

It's their job.

Absolutely this.

Even if the Saltdean Post Office was a complete shithole and the customers all utter twats, the money will talk louder.

We have a completely different relationship with the club to the players. The players (with a few exceptions) are just employees and have no particular affinity.

The trouble is, too many players look at the money and completely ignore everything else. How many careers have gone backwards after a big-money move, because they failed to realise that they were swapping 'regular starting place' for 'just another squad player'. See Raheem Sterling.

I was having my doubts about this transfer. I didn't think we needed another midget? Not if we are going to keep Knockaert.

Spurs said they were fortunate to get such a large transfer fee (if the amount is true? and I had my doubts about that as well).

Why is it being described as illegal for Norwich

Cause they haven't got permission from Spurs to talk to the player after agreeing a transfer fee first. Nothing will be done about it though.

To summarise this thread:

Page 1 Sky sports announce Brighton are in talks with Spurs over Pritchard, a cost of £8m is quoted.
Page 1-13 Everyone says how decent he is and starts panicking about Stephen or Knockeart leaving.
Page 12-13 Two people start discussing the pros and cons of using FIFA as a player rating tool.
Page 14 The Argus confirm the talks are in advanced stage and that no departures are planed
Page 15 Some people start complimenting Nayor which is highly inappropriate.
Page 16 -17 Possible team line ups start being drawn up
Page 18 The subject of an Alex Pritchard song is finally raised (credit to Blue Valkyrie)
Page 20 Sky Sports confirm a fee has been agreed.
Page 20-28 we all discuss whether the amount being banded around is good value
Page 29-34 we sit waiting for the pic of him, standing in the p*****g rain with a rubbish nike shirt with a red swoosh tick, outside the training ground
page 34 - 46 very little
page 46-50 various other clubs have reportedly shown an interest without any confirmation of a bid being accepted.
page 51-64 we're doomed vs it still looks likely.
page 65 - F**k a duck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can't look further than the agent for stirring this one. According to the story, Norwich didn't have permission from Spurs but I am pretty sure the agent would have called everyone to get a better deal. This isn't dead yet, we do hold a few key cards, the relationship with CH and Spurs, however I do fear his head will be turned by money that Norwich can offer. The problem is with the parachute system, this gives the clubs that failed last year an even easier ride in a lower division, the idea of the money was to protect clubs from high salaries and lower revenue, instead they just spend it on new players. This has to be addressed.

Now Robbie Brady that's a different matter. Half inch taller midget.

Because his Agent (on commission) says 'hang on a sec, lets see if I can use this to lever some more money for you (and me)'

We're hardly flooded with midgets are we. Murray and Hemed provide our aerial presence, backed up by Dunk and Goldson. As creative players, Knockaert and Pritchards heights are about as relevant as what they like for breakfast.

And WHERE exactly did Spurs say they were fortunate to get such a large fee ? Link?

We do seem to be poor at getting players over the line when in the final negotiations. Now that's Grabban, Ward, Clayton and now Pritchard one per seasons

The whole thing being driven by parasitical agents. Although they would be trying to get the best monetary deal for themselves and their player, not necessarily the best football deal for the player.

Seems like whoever leaked this (and it will not be the Albion) have got their way and are pushing the price up.

I think he has got it from the club so the facts are right.

However the opinion part of the piece.... Which is because he has been offered more at Norwich he is going there might be wrong.

Hmm. Maybe. There's nowhere reliable online stating they've even had a bid accepted.
