Friday night up in Sheffield and a Monday night at Amex are hardly the most accessible nights for football. If the home tie had been Sat/Sun it would have sold out in no time.

Couldn't agree more. Yet again the play-off dates are determined by Sky no doubt, with no regard for the convenience of the fans who are actually attending the matches.

What really pisses me off is the viewing figures. Our game against Boro was watched at the peak by 367,000 households. A figure they jizz themselves over because their usual figures for Prem games are c260k. Why do they even bother? Or more to the point why do advertisers keep paying the silly money they charge? I just don't get the maths.

From a quick lazy Google I found their 2014 numbers and, as I'd expect, most of their money comes from subscriptions, not advertising.

Surely there are a great many more watching in pubs and clubs that are not counted as "households".

After last season, I didn't think twice about booking a holiday at the end of the season, so will be trying to find a way to watch on Monday in the middle of nowhere in France. Fingers crossed.

Hmm, i'm astonished. Working on what I pay as an average (c£65 a month) that makes for roughly 100m subscribers which can't be right. Presuming the wholesale figures are pubs/clubs, which again is surprising considering I read that pubs pay more than £5k a year for their subscriptions.

It might well be nonsense but m sure I've heard that some pubs/bars pay £2-£3k a month for sky subscriptions.

Well, I've just had a reply from our host saying nowhere has Sky in their vicinity. Does anyone know how to find out if any foreign channels will be showing the play offs? Specifically Canal+ it would seem.

Assuming you subscribe to Sky and have a laptop you could perhaps just watch it on the laptop?

Would you need some sort of software to fool your sky subscription service that you are in the UK?

Not sure. Failing that sully could watch it via Skygo on his phone, otherwise as a last resort he could stay at home and watch it in a pub in Hurstpierpoint, which arguably has more atmosphere than "the middle of nowhere in France".

I'm not a Sky subscriber. If I want to watch, I usually go to the Poacher, but that won't be possible next Monday!

It shouldn't be too tricky to catch in any Sports/Irish bar if you are staying near any decent sized town. Just watch out you don't choose a bar that closes up at 10; if it goes to extra time and pens, it could easily be close to 12 French time. Just hope they don't switch to live handball either.
