Can someone tell us why Firms like Viagogo plus others aren't classed as touts and are allowed to sell tickets well above face value
When tickets go on sale for a top Band the tickets are sold out within a couple of hours, you then click on Viagoogo and find out they've got 500 tickets for sell, instead of £50 face value they're asking £150
Why is this ok?

Often wondered why ticket agencies are allowed carry on as legitimate businesses, charging extortionate prices for face value tickets, yet the man on the street that tries the same is hung, drawn and quartered.

In that case I stand corrected! That is utterly mental.

It's funny that seeing as we never (or only rarely) sold out that someone would head up to the ground on the off chance.

The closest I came was calling the ticket office on the way to the train station and getting a couple sent up to the ground to pick up.

I miss those days and the excitement I got when my first season ticket turned up in that booklet. Good times

The first few seasons at Withdean were sold out and tickets very hard to come by. Don't forget we were champions two seasons in a row, but when the extra seats were put in, then the capacity rose from 5K to 8K. Even then in the last season when we were sweeping all before us to win the title with 5 games to go, the seats were sold out again.

It's not ok, everyone hates sites like this. I read once though that the venue gets a lot of money from these sites so they have no incentive to stop it. Some bands (Mumford and sons) made a song and dance about it and said they wouldn't be selling to yours, but in general people accept it as it's the 'norm'.

Kid :lolol: Ticket touts = scum, end of.

That being said, I'm sure he's learnt his lesson so no need for a witch hunt.

This.

Kid will have learnt his lesson by this morning from his probably first (and probably last) FORAY into football ticket touting. Maybe the thread should now be locked before it descends into downright online bullying. Some posters seem to be enjoying turning the screw just a LITTLE too much... ???

Hang on I haven't posted a Self Righteous Brothers video yet.

Yes he is, no he isn't this could go on forever and a day.

However being aged 18 means legally he is an adult and as such would not be eligible for juvenile court.

The point is that he's lacking in life experience.

Most rational people would be willing to give an 18 year old a second chance if they've done something a bit silly. Calling for him to be criminalized or trying to affect his education is just bizarre. These are potentially life changing things, to be that malicious towards someone is much worse than making a few quid selling tickets IMHO.

Well someone who knows him could do with having a word with him to stop him robbing fellow fans ???

My views on a statement like that are thus.

The fixture list came out around 35 weeks ago and if you really wanted a ticket for this match you could have one. After all that lad managed to put a little effort in and got 4 of them.

It maybe is not right to do what he is doing but it does not warrant all of this. I don't even feel sorry for the lad, I feel more sorry that people can have such hate for such a trivial thing. My suggestion to people would be that if you want to avoid disappointment of not getting a ticket put the effort in early and go on line and purchase them early and take responsibility for yourself in life instead of blaming others.

Part of me wants to give away my own ticket just to calm things down because this is all out of proportion.

If we go up to tout heaven we will have to all calm down,if you think all new s/t holders are going to be life long Albion fans then think again! Cant recall the touts around falmer station getting set on by moral zealots! Easier to pick on a lone 18 on the internet rather than front up some fat cockney touts!???

Agreed.

I don't agree to people emailing his Uni or going way overboard. Don't attempt to ruin his life for trying to (stupidly) make a few ££.
The club were informed, his tickets invalidated and perhaps a 1 season ban and stern warning (by the club).
That should be the end of it.

...and if he does it again, off with his head.

Yes - this.

The lad is presumably £100 out of pocket, as the tickets will have been cancelled, presumably with no refund. That in itself is punishment enough for a youthful error of judgement.

He's a good lad who made a bit of howler,i'm sure he's got the message so no need for the bullies to carry on with the spiteful vendetta! Plenty of worse people to target if any of you are brave enough! NSC at it worse i'm afraid:shit:

A bit of perspective is required here any way.

if you pay £70 for a home match that's been on general sale for an age and is also on the box, I think it's you (the purchaser) that needs to be trolled and reported to all and sundry under the gross stupidity act of 1993.
Or the person who's bought up tickets specifically to rip off other fans.

Can no longer go ? Sell for face value.
