been reflecting on the debate. The OUT camp are very quiet. Just got my pamphlet from the IN camp which was well articulated (eg "EU membership brings economic security, peace and stability"). But nothing from those who want to leave. Also Boris seems to be making no impact. Its not looking good for them

the government broke the rules on spending cap to distribute those flyers. maybe the out camp, staying within the budget, have to see it through to the middle of June.

What influence has the electorate had in this country about anything significant that the EU has done in recent years, or intends to do in the future?

On the contrary British politicians lied about the far reaching effects of the Lisbon Treaty, an all but re-warmed EU constitution that had been rejected by the French and Dutch electorates. Mandelson referred to it as a "tidying up exercise" despite Labour offering a referendum in its 2005 manifesto. Brown was so embarrassed he did not take part in the Treaty celebrations........skulking in on the quiet to sign it.

The expansion of the EU into Eastern Europe was never sold to the British electorate, it happened anyway with all the profound consequences we have since witnessed. At the time we were told we would expect 15,000 poles to arrive, this was at a time very few people understood that the Lisbon Treaty had effectively swept away our ability to manage our borders.

The effects of the EU's mismanagement of Its borders are now coming home to roost with the same old solution of more Europe needed. This solution now means further expansion of the EU to include Turkey........who the f**k has sold this to the EU electorate? Do you think we will get a vote?

Yes there are plenty because America also is the world's second largest economy, making up nearly a 1/5th of global GDP and an internal market of 300 million people. This is translated into trade deals which benefit multinational companies. A great place to HQ a business.

The EU is collectively the world's largest economy making up over a 1/5th of global GDP and has an international market of 500 million people. This is translated into trade deals, existing and being negotiated, that benefit multinational companies. A great place to HQ a business.

The UK is 3% of global GDP and has an internal market of 60 million people. Following Brexit we no longer have any trade deals, all of them have to be renegotiated - taking years. Moreover all our business legislation must be written. This is a terrible place to set up an HQ because we have not-so-cleverly decided to decimate our access and leverage within the world's largest economy and largest market.

So we will be a bit like Switzerland then, known for its precision engineering, banking, tourism and social care system? Or if we stay we could be like Greece, Spain, Ireland, Portugal and Italy. Not a compelling arguement.

No you don't get this either do you. It's not the amount of posts, it's posters that's important. Of the top 30 only 6 that I know of prefer to remain. Yet the poll is largely even. The poll does not reflect the In v Out posters on the thread. Meaning, a lot of forumites that are not posting (those that remain silent) are voting IN on the poll.
