Surely it would have been better to do the show, ask fans to turn up with rainbow flags and then to thoroughly denounce bigotry from the stage? I'm guessing the majority of people that booked to see him would be of a like mindset to him, so why punish them?

If they are of a similar mindset, why do the concert and 'preach to the choir'?

By cancelling the concert, hotels don't get used by people coming in from further afield (and will have to refund), public transport, local restaurants, general tourism, the stadium, the taxes. Not bringing a big event like a Bruce Springsteen concert to NC, will deliver a big financial hit to the state. This creates motivation for local businesses and local residents who perhaps were disinterested, or simply uninterested enough to speak up and let the powers that be know how they feel, will now speak up and work towards repealing the bill (assuming the governor hasn't vetoed it - several other states have tried to enact anti-lgbt bills and threats from companies including the coca cola have condemned the bill, and the nfl vowed not to hold major events there putting pressure on said governors)

Bruce and the band were supposed to be playing in Greensboro, NC this weekend, but have cancelled the show as a protest against the state's anti-LGBT laws. I've always been a big Boss fan and am even more of one now.

As you, my fans, know I’m scheduled to play in Greensboro, North Carolina this Sunday. As we also know, North Carolina has just passed HB2, which the media are referring to as the “bathroom” law. HB2 — known officially as the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act — dictates which bathrooms transgender people are permitted to use. Just as important, the law also attacks the rights of LGBT citizens to sue when their human rights are violated in the workplace. No other group of North Carolinians faces such a burden. To my mind, it’s an attempt by people who cannot stand the progress our country has made in recognizing the human rights of all of our citizens to overturn that progress. Right now, there are many groups, businesses, and individuals in North Carolina working to oppose and overcome these negative developments. Taking all of this into account, I feel that this is a time for me and the band to show solidarity for those freedom fighters. As a result, and with deepest apologies to our dedicated fans in Greensboro, we have canceled our show scheduled for Sunday, April 10th. There are lots of others, too. I've listed two and already shown your figure to be out. Factor in also that we're talking world wide. We're talking billions. And .15% of the population is almost 10.7 million people. From just two examples of of not fitting the fully functioning xx/xy groupings.

Either way, you now accept that not everyone fits into one of two categories, proving that the human race is much more diverse than your previous comment claimed.

And your comment about a new species of human muddies the argument. People aren't saying trans people are a different race, needing to be separate from the human race, quite the opposite. That they add to the diversity of the same species of human - diversity which you have tried to deny.

Klinefelter syndrome does not make the male a woman. They are still male. Triple XXX syndrome does not make a woman male, you need a Y chromosone for that.

So yes, they still fit into two categories.
