Stepdad threatened by the club

The club loses around £1m a month, yet some fans have been knowingly ripping the club off by using a lower-priced ticket than they are entitled to use.

The club have been investigating this and I'm told have been quite shocked at what they have found.

Of course I have no idea of the details of this specific case, but I do find it difficult, when prices are so well publicised, that someone can be paying less than they should and not know.

How can they be losing £1m a month? i don't believe that. the argus quotes Barber, Chief executive Paul Barber said: “We are talking about a tiny minority but now there will be zero tolerance'

Even if he classed his tiny minority as 50% of the gate saving an average of £10-£20 per game no way does that come to a £1m a month, even if you were to play 3 at home in a month.

Its blindingly obvious Bozza was referring to the overall losses across the board. Not just from this issue. Well it was to me anyway

The club loses 10million+, a season. This could be roughly estimated at a million a month.

I'm sure Bozza is talking about the club's total annual losses - not what they lose through people failing to pay what they should. Not that the distinction makes much difference... if they're ripping off the club, then they're ripping off all of us that pay the correct amount.

Which of course ultimately if allowed to continue unchecked would lead to price increases all round

There is a moral issue here. As well as a commercial business, our club is also a community. Do you really want to rip off your community? I couldn't in all conscience sit in the stadium knowing that I paid a concession rate when I should have paid the full rate for my seat.

The £10 million a year would appear to equate to what Tony is putting in every year. These people are effectively stealing Tony's money.

Given the club's publicity/warnings around upgrades and concessions lately, it's blindingly obvious they have uncovered a significant problem and are now in the throes of sorting it out so anyone who has the 'wrong' ticket can expect to get contacted. I don't think the club would 'threaten' anyone, least not until all amicable avenues have been explored

Posts on NSC like the OP are like hotel reviews on Tripadvisor that state 'my room was awful, will never stay here again'. Did you speak to the hotel to give them a chance to resolve it ? 'No'.........

Looking forward to seeing the full story on this one.

It always seems like these types of post appear late on a friday night, much like the one about the brentford away tickets and once posted the OP disappears rather than participate in the discussion

It's depressing that some seem to feel that the "community" aspect of our club should only work one way. The club, they seem to be saying, should do all they can to support the fans, irrespective of how unique their particular circumstances happen to be, but the fans have no obligation to honour their side of the moral contract which, in this case, simply means pay what you should.

Not enough info here but based on the OP if the club were incompetent enough to undercharge they should make sure they agree a proper repayment term. Most businesses do it, its common practice.

Agreed. But do you not think the timing is a bit odd with recent news about fans ripping off the club ?

Very hard to take this thread seriously when the Op post the threads in the middle of the night and then is not heard from again in the first 6 pages of the thread. I would be taking this up with the club instead of leaving it open to conjecture on a forum where we have very few facts!

Indeed. Threads like this always bring to mind http://www.northstandchat.com/showthread.php?216502-Banned-for-life-(Update-post-428) where someone took a hot button issue (at the time there was a lot of talk about clamping down on offensive language) made a wild accusation, drew a lot of posters into slagging off the club, only for it to be revealed (post 428) he was lying. At Southern Sid hung around to keep stoking that one along.

Or the thread from another poster claiming to have been the victim of unwarranted harrassment from a bag checking steward, only for it to be revealed by another poster who witnessed it, that the OP had been causing trouble and was being unreasonably difficult and rude.

Had this thread been correctly titled "Stepdad told he couldn't keep getting away with ripping off the club" I wonder if it would have run on so long?

It's bloody awful customer service. When you set up a direct debit, you don't expect months/years later to be told there was an error with your payment, you owe £400.

This is an error by the Albion. They should pay the consequences. What happens when the man pays back the money which he 'owes'? Does the club compensate him due to terrible handling of his bank details and the lack of ease attending the matches. The club haven't exactly made it smooth for him considering he hasn't actually done anything wrong. If anything, the Albion have failed to stick with the agreement, therefore, they should be apologising, not threatening to stop him from going.

Appalling.
