Worst TV "comedy" ever?

IMO, Vicar of Dibley and LotSW have no business here. Certainly not all that funny, but they are simply main stream blandness. You have to look at the competition. If either one of those ends up in a "shithouse comedy World Cup" group containing Citizen Khan, Miranda and All About Me, they will end up with around 3 votes.

The same goes for Hi De Hi.

I'm surprised that there are a few votes for Shameless, as it wasn't supposed to be a sitcom surely (and I thought it was very good).

My parents are big fans of Miranda and Citizen Kahn. I swear I'm adopted.

Anything mentioned in this thread gets my vote - apart from Friends (as mentioned its not incredible, but certainly watchable) and possibly My Family - it wasn't too bad, but went dramatically downhill when Kris Marshall left. He held the whole thing together.

I'm trying to think of the last good comedy the BBC managed to turn out...possibly Coupling, but even then that became unfunny in the last series.

Brush Strokes had its moments but I remember Chance in a Million featuring Simon Callow as a chap who experienced bizarre scenarios, for example needing to make a phone call and the phone box being used to break a world record (number of people in it). He also used to down a pint in one go and this was shoehorned in at any chance.

Very good actor who must look back and cringe.

Oh I'm not having that. Some of the episodes/performances were stand-out. The one where Denise is going into labour and says her waters have broken and Jim says "Are you sure it wasn't just a really big piss" ?

"My Family" I quite enjoyed - the episode where the Kris Marshall character was trying to chat up a French Girl "on line" made me laugh - particularly the "...you've outed our son as a Lesbian!" line.

Suprised that the steaming turd that is "Outnumbered" hasn't featured on here.

BTW I quite like "Miranda" (gets coat, changes user name, hides).

...Just remember - worst TV comdedy I have ever seen was the American version (one of several I believe) of "Fawlty Towers" - the aptly named "Payne". Transcended dire.
