I'm back after ban

To be honest, I don't think the length of membership should have any bearing on a moderating decision. If someone does something that is deemed to be worthy of a ban, it shouldn't matter whether it is that poster's first post or whether they've got tens of thousands.

As it happens, I don't think what the OP did was worthy of a ban. Particularly given that a long-standing poster did EXACTLY the same thing in last year's thread, but didn't get a ban. It's decisions and inconsistencies like that which can undermine the moderating system on here, IMHO.

THIS!!

I imagine that Hitony took into account the fact that he was such a new poster too. A new guy coming into town and throwing abuse is likely to generate a stronger reaction than a long standing poster.

So he's banned again. That's annoying I wanted him to answer my question. Who else called Priestfield, 'The Priestfield'?

I'm pretty sure we used to call it "The Priestfield" or just Gillingham, don't think we ever referred to it as pissfield, and I also think that most in our group referred to "The Withdean" more often than not. Much as we refer to "The Amex" nowadays.

Really? You don't think that PPF's use of 6 wanker signs in this thread is different to a new poster using them? We know PPF - he's built an online persona; we know he's one of us. Whereas Wints was using them within 30 posts and is widely suspected of being Palace. They're the same?? Sorry - I disagree.

Some level of inconsistency is inevitable if you have more than one mod. Hell, some level of inconsistency is inevitable if you have only one mod - sometimes they'll be in a better mood than other times. I can assure you that discussions do take place in mod towers from time to time about how to deal with situations or posters; precisely with the aim of being consistent. The only thing we can be certain of is that we don't please everyone. If that's the metric we're to be measured by, we're doomed, I tell you. Doomed.

It seems this is all you're really saying:

I've seen some great bans and repeat bans since the heady daze of '98 GC vintage NSC... Some have been legendary, some less so. Dave the Eagle, bless, should have been the best ban ever, alas 98 websites couldn't really prevent such legendary acts of BLOCK CAPITAL terrorism. Akin to the plucky Poles with horses against German tanks, we were powerless to resist the mechanical efficiency of his genius.

I say with no little bittersweet omission and irony filled regret, that some vintage glasses are best left corked, below in the dusty, musty wine cellar of NSC yore and, dare I say... Lore.

Here's to you Dave, for you will always been the oxymoron laden best and worst of them all... Peace, and rest ye well legend of the dim and distant dial up dallies.

Well, maybe it's just me then. For me it was Withdean, The Goldstone, Priestfield and The Amex. Though, obviously not in that order!

Well, this is a very early contender for most cringeworthy and embarrassing thread of 2016, and bizarrely enough the OP isn't the reason why.

Mods have always had double standards whether they deny it or not it doesn't matter. I call someone a name as opposed to someone with 10,000 posts calling me a name back, there is only one person getting in trouble. It's just life, the embarrassing part is the justification and arguing from the mods, it's cringey.

I did, but would rather forget all about that now

How long is the troll banned for now?

At the risk of appearing to be a teachers pet, I'm going to defend the mods here. I think posting history should be taken into account. To use a similar analogy to Bozza's, past history / crimes should be taken into account. A poster with 10,000 posts with a clean history that could make a stupid mistake and should be given some leaway. Whilst a new poster that almost immediately launches into unsavory and insulting posts needs their expectations around posting rights re-set sooner rather than later.

The mods do their 'jobs' pretty well as far as I can see - they removed a poster who posted some pretty abusive stuff against me around the Shoreham Air Crash given the sensitivity at the time and people need to remember NSC is a hobby for them as well as us and not some professional business. *** brown nosing over ***

This thread doesn't show the mods in good light. Just my opinion. I feel he was somewhat provoked. His warning and banning was a very public display by goldstone.

I'm sure it could have been handled better with a smile and a joke especially considering Bens Grandads response.

I would say this says it all about why you favour the mods. The mods have favoured you. If the poster removed had been someone you liked then you would not find them so favourable. You and the mods need to face that you have prejudices and one of them is favouring posters who have more longevity. A longevity that is dependent on the mods not banning/removing a poster.

Utter rubbish. Firstly I suggest you go and read the thread about the crash - then decide if what that poster wrote was acceptable. Regardless, it's not difficult to avoid being banned, or indeed picking up infraction points so those that complain that they have been banned just need to consider what they say in future - a bit like real life really only they get a virtual punch rather than a real one.

Complete rubbish, Danny Seagull is a good friend of mine, he has stayed at my house here in Wales, we are good mates, I have banned him for good reason on at least 2/3 occasions and issued him quite a few infractions, us being friends does not alter anything, he was out of order and I dealt with it, we remain very good friends, I could, if I did not have to get ready for work, give a few examples of this, but I don't have time, or indeed am I going to sit here defending myself!

As I have said time and time again, I have met many people in the real world after I have issued infractions/ bans on NSC and have made many friends as well, personally I expect some critisism and in areas I have been wrong, when I have been wrong the situation has been reversed and I have ALWAYS apologised to that member.

Just for peoples information, we do, do many good things on here as well as just issue infractions and bans etc, as I am sure many people will underline, sadly many of the good deeds we have done are rarely done in public due to the nature of the issues.

We don't get paid for what we do, we do it for the good of the board and everyone concerned.
