Your team this year has a good balance of British experience coupled with Continental determination and flair. This could be your season to go ahead, and stay ahead once you become "The Team To Beat". Runaway leaders do come unstuck (Look at Orient in Div.1 three seasons ago!) but it's better to have banked the points than not.

I was going to mention them - wasn't it 10 straight victories to start the season, and yet they missed out in the end.

What you need to remember is this, We had a good pre-season and it's showing,
On top of that, I really believe CH when he says we are still going to improve as the season progresses!.

If that's true, Then the other teams will always be playing catch up with us.

We've not seen a fully fit Zamora yet

Elvis has yet to enter the fray

Harper could be a gem

Hambo might be our more direct option when needed

lot's of room for improvment.

This is a good point actually that I hadn't considered. I suspect that it would suit a lot of our fans better (were it ever to happen).

No it's not
We play 8 more games which means that We have more on a Saturday AND more midweek.
Palace only think they have more as they are too stupid to work this out, combined with the fact that no'one wants to watch them on telly, so it's Saturday virtually every week

I'm not so sure. We got over the critical hurdle last night of not upfurking against a team at the bottom of the table thereby negating hard-fought points recently won against a team at the top of the table. That's an achievement of real significance IMHO. And I mean that seriously. Loads on here, myself included, assumed we'd blow it last night in traditional Albion fashion.

apologies if it's already been brought up, but, I like the term 'upfurking'

As a proportion though, they are currently looking at 13% (5/38) midweek games, whilst we've got 22% (10/46). Unless I've ****ed up which is eminently possible.

It doesn't necessary mean we are better than them. I would say the teams below will finish above us.

Burnley, Derby, Hull, Middlesbrough, QPR

And we are in a group with

Ipswich, Wolves, Sheff Wed, Reading, Birmingham and maybe Cardiff

We lack strength in depth quality wise for me and probably could do with someone a bit better than Baldock (who I do like), but isn't prolific enough for me.

Sounds about right to me.

Jesus...reading this thread, we might all go and slit our wrists.

This is a VERY good team and we are one of the challengers...results don't lie and how we demolished Ipswich who are a decent side shows how good we are and could be. Bit of luck and we would have had 10 against Blackburn and last night, we could have had a hatful with a bit of luck...kayal's free header, hemed's miss, zamoras shot that went straight at the keeper, bruno's blinder of a volley.......

Have faith...this team will be very very hard to beat this season..mark my words.

I know you deny it but I never see you post anything that has the slightest hint of positivity in it, what's the point? If people want to get excited about being promoted, signing exciting new players and maybe regularly playing against some of Europe's top teams, why do you feel the need to put the boot in every time?
just being a realist, as the Palace bod said you can see it all without going to the game these days .

No. A 1 in 4 chance is 3/1. The bookies are offering 5/2, but obviously that includes their profit, so maybe 3/1 is fair, which is a 1 in 4 chance. So The odds are well against us being promoted.

Seeing as 2 teams get automatic promotion surely that is a 1 in 2 chance

I think most people are avoiding getting too excited, as that can lead to terrible heartache.

This time last year Forest has 17 points from 7 matches and were unbeaten at the top - and look what happened there

The last team to have 19 points from 7 games (like us) was QPR in 2010, and they were champions.

Whilst comparisons are drawn with Forest to remind us how it can all go wrong, I do think Forest were a bit of a basket case. There didn't seem to be much thought into how they recruited. You only have to see how many people were suspicious of Albion's recruitment this summer barely 2 months ago to see that we were far more cautious and - it seems - sensible with our spending.

For example, and this is off the top of my head, the only position I'd say we haven't really got adequate short-term cover is left back. Conversely, Forest seemed to embark on a policy of buying (and probably overpaying) every available striker with a half decent reputation.

So if 10 teams got auto, it would be 1 in 10. Ok :)

No. Following your discussion about our chances, it was said the bookies have us as 4th favourites & so someone raised the 1 in 4 chance.
I was merely saying that as 2 get automatic promotion, seeing as we are 4th favourites surely that would be a 1 in 2 chance using that logic.

No, no one said it was 1 in 4 because we're 4th favourites. I said the bookies have us at a chance of 1 in 3.5, which means about 1 in 4 after you allow for their profit.

...and one that's posted on here since 2001, I'll ask the question, is it Albion's time?

I'm intrigued as I don't know much about this emerging Albion side - you naturally follow the Champ less when you're not in it. CH is obviously a good solid manager and a generally decent bloke.

And how would I feel if the answer is 'yes'? I think we wouldn't mind you going up, as long as we got 6 points and it was for one year only. I think the reality would be different and you've the infrastructure to bed in. Interesting times. A Palace v BHA game in the Prem league would be exciting.

Cheers,

Paul.

First time I thought so was the Rotherham match. We have a very difficult home run in. This is best because if we think our home run is hard it would be nothing compared to the PL.

Currently I see our main opposition to be Middlesbrough, Derby and Reading. Burnley away will be a difficult game.

I can't see us giving Burnley a 2-0 lead and getting a win.
