I said 1 player mentioned it.

Of course they all knew afterwards.

They did not know on the night of the game.
They did know when BHAFC employees were under suspicion and they allowed the media to run stories they knew were wrong. They knew that the right thing would be to put the rumours to bed and tell the truth about what really happened. They chose to say nothing over 20 months. Nothing less than we've come to expect from your club's board and fans alike. A couple of Palace fans on this thread excepted.
The rest of you have done nothing other than confirm your club lacks class from board to fans. Yes, we know you are in the PL. Yes, we know you beat us that night. You are still lacking any sense of doing the right thing as your regular financial wrong doings have shown us.

Frankly, I'm surprised anybody wants to do business, either within football or as a supplier, with your shitty outfit. Pun intended.

Now that this is in the public domain, has there been any statement from Palace confirming or denying this story? A properly run club would have said something by now, one would have thought.

You answered your own question there

Seems to be an admittance here that (a) the coach was deliberately held up and (b) the Albion management, realising that had caused the driver so much stress that he lost control of his bodily functions, apologised to Palace. .

You do realise that this incident happened when the kitman and coach driver came to deliver the kit without the players?

Any delay of the coach is a completely different issue.

Really? Being deliberately jammed in a vehicle whilst having no way to relieve yourself and under stress is irrelevant? I think not. And I bet the Palace management and players didn't think so either at the time.

Gus Poyet's ranting email to Albion's staff began with this incident. Indeed, it gave him some sort of moral high ground it turns out he never had a right to take, it gave him an excuse to have a go at this club. Reading the email again - and looking back with hindsight - the Palace coach driver's actions were very significant:

THE FULL TRANSCRIPT OF GUS POYET'S EMAIL TO HIS STAFF

'Hi All,

1) ...when Crystal Palace players and staff arrived to the Amex and went into their dressing room, they found themselves in a very uncomfortable situation, for some reason that still no clear to me , someone during the day had access to the away dressing room and done something terrible, trying to upset everyone related to Palace. To say it in clear English, someone had a ‘poo’ all outside the toilets, over and around the toilets.

Now, after careful consideration, and even after a meeting with the Chairman who assured me that MY REPUTATION IS INTACT, I feel that I must express my anger that anyone inside this organisation thought they could interfere with it.

I am angry that someone within this club could endanger our good reputation and stoop so low - did they imagine that this would affect the Crystal Palace players - well it possible did - it may just have fired them up even more.

Well someone made a very bad decision and I think it is time to stand up and take responsibility - not just the culprit but those employees who are supposed to make our stadium safe and secure. Surely changing rooms are high up on securities check lists???

Surely someone should lose their job to allow such a breach of security - they do not deserve to be part of this club!...

2)...would someone like to admit it was their idea to hand out stupid pieces of noise-making paper - can I tell you it was an extremely silly idea and the result was an annoying noise - I am not for one minute blaming the result of the game on this, but it added only negative vibes to the proceedings along with the rubbish filled balloons that littered the pitch.

My team of players and staff have worked hard this season and I do not appreciate negative actions from others within the club...whoever you are, you let the club down very badly.

Gus Poyet'

The incident in question didn't happen when the coach was apparently being held up, so I'm not quite sure where you're going with this one champ.

If Palace don't apologise, I'd hope that TB tells Parish and co where to go next time they try to get into the Boardroom for a match between us at the Amex.

You're a book keeper or accountant or systems analyst or something equally boring aren't you?

No doubt consulting their lawyers... would you take Muzza as a penitence?

I don't want any penitence. I just find it amazing that the powers that be at your club do not want to address an obvious slur/embarrassment. The professional thing to do is to man up and say something, not keep quiet and hope it goes away and no-one notices, like the naughty child at the back of the classroom. I am wondering what effect this will have on your clubs relations with other clubs, not just ours and would have thought that your board would be concerned about that.

I doubt you'll get through to him. Seemingly being delayed on a coach (allegedly) caused by a plot to upset the Palace team has time-travelling abilities, and was able to make the coach driver unwell a good 5 hours BEFORE.

Why are you amazed? This is Crystal Palace we're talking about.

It wasn't the driver !

Regardless who it was ,that is not the point in question ,morally and ethically that person and others who knew, were wrong, and anyone arguing in their defence is surely deluded with no personal standards.I would hazard a guess that the crystal palace hierarchy and the decent fans of the club are extremely red faced and deeply embarrassed .

The accident happened 4 or 5 hours earlier when the kit was being laid out.

Driving the team later in the evening was not relevant to the mess. Someone else on this thread has already pointed out that the diversion was going up one exit on the A27, so that it would be easier to go up the slip road to the stadium, so not exactly miles out.

All of which is completely beside the point.

The issue is that in the aftermath of this incident, your club knew exactly who the culprit was, but stood by while BHA endured the ridicule and embarrassment of fans and media, apologised to your club profusely, and suspended members of staff while this was investigated.

CPFC stood by and watched. Probably sniggering up their sleeves along with everyone else.

Weasels.

Boom. That. All of it. Twice.

I'm ashamed by this incident and the way in which the truth has come out....part of me still doesn't believe it.

The club need to make both an apology to Albion and a public statement of responsibility. Don't hold your breath though as a lot of the reaction around Selhurst has been anything but apologetic. Someone suggested giving the coach driver a season ticket for life......
That turd has earned Palace millions as it was a major motivation. It's cost you millions likewise (or Watford). BUT....if it was done the day before, how come the cleaners didn't get rid of it?......the coach driver's OUR culprit but the cleaning regime at the Amex is YOURS.

Watch the video of McCarthy just a little earlier in this thread (post538). It was 4 or 5 hours earlier on that day. Why would cleaners access a changing room on a match day?
Maybe if the driver and kit man had been honest and said there had been an accident, Brighton could have called cleaners in, but we didn't know.

Once again, for the hard of thinking:

The driver was with the Palace kit man, presumably helping him unload the kit from the coach. He got caught short in the dressing room, shat everywhere, tried to clear it up but didn't make a very good job of it, so he just left it, and the door was locked. Coach driver - aware. Palace kit man - aware. Palace players soon after - aware. Palace club hierarchy soon after - aware.

Media shitstorm ensues. Much embarrassment and fallout heaped on BHA. BHA issue an immediate apology, launch an internal investigation, staff are suspended, and ANOTHER official apology is issued to Palace, which is accepted by Disney and Browett, et-al.

And all the time this was going off, they knew. The KNEW it was not an employee of BHA who was the culprit. THAT is why it is upsetting so many now. Utterly rancid, dispicable behaviour by your club.

Get it now ?

Hahaha.
You honestly believe your championship club is that important and interesting to the majority outside Sussex to cause a 'media shitstorm' as you put it?
or were you talking about getting a few lines in The Argus?
I suppose you could count that rag as media....

After the kit was delivered, the dressing room would be locked and no staff allowed in there, for obvious reasons.
Why didn't the coach driver just tell someone at the Amex what had happened?

On the contrary, Talksport mentioned it last night calling for Palace to apologise.
