Some of the regular Palace posters have surprised me with their contributions to this thread, because I had thought that they were decent blokes enjoying banter with rival fans. However, they have shown themselves to be people with a pikey mindset supporting a club that behaves like pikeys.

You are aware that the Coach Driver has nothing to do with the club, right?

Take it up with Kings Ferry. The club was unaware of anything to do with the driver until after the night's events, hence Holloway going ballistic.

The kit man knew, according to your op, and I assume Palace employ their own kit man.

The Palace camp knew the truth very soon after the game, and have had ample time to put the record straight and to clear Albion’s name, but chose not to.

If my club did that to your club, or any other club, I would be embarrassed and ashamed.

Was it also not true that the coach was delayed an inordinately long time from getting into the AMEX carpark and discharging its passengers?

On NSC in the run-up to the game, delaying the coach as well as more extreme measures like disturbing the players in the hotel the night before were put forward as "permissible" tactics.

However I'm quite happy for Holloway to formally apologise to Poyet for any upset caused; considering that Gus had already decided to leave Albion it didn't change much.

Thank you for pointing that out...This is why I keep saying if it was the driver, what the hell was he doing strolling around inside the stadium..it just does not add up. And if the driver was aloud to stroll around the stadium and shit where he liked, that is the reason Mr Holloway went apeshxt. But as both Brighton and Palace football clubs drew a line under it why the hell is it upsetting so many now??

Read SDG's opening post. The coach driver was with your kit man, so would have had access with him to the away dressing room.
One of the reasons it upset many is because Brighton employees at the time were thought to be to blame. Even yesterday, in the comments in our local paper, there were a number of people who had been convinced that it was the reason Charlie Oatway lost his testimonial match.
Brighton, the club apologised to Palace, and to Holloway, when, by then, it must have been plain that it wasn't anything to do with us, but it's taken 20 months for two players to reveal what really happened.

I must admit I'm embarrassed though, McCarthy should have kept his gob shut. Wonder who in the audience asked the question... the bloke has been sent off enough times in a Palace shirt over the years, I'm surprised they let him represent them at a public function like that.

Once again, for the hard of thinking:

The driver was with the Palace kit man, presumably helping him unload the kit from the coach. He got caught short in the dressing room, shat everywhere, tried to clear it up but didn't make a very good job of it, so he just left it, and the door was locked. Coach driver - aware. Palace kit man - aware. Palace players soon after - aware. Palace club hierarchy soon after - aware.

Media shitstorm ensues. Much embarrassment and fallout heaped on BHA. BHA issue an immediate apology, launch an internal investigation, staff are suspended, and ANOTHER official apology is issued to Palace, which is accepted by Disney and Browett, et-al.

And all the time this was going off, they knew. The KNEW it was not an employee of BHA who was the culprit. THAT is why it is upsetting so many now. Utterly rancid, dispicable behaviour by your club.

Get it now ?

You can dress it up any way you wish, but the driver at the time was in the employ of Crystal Palace.

One player, McCarthy.

The Coach Driver may have emptied his load from both ends all over the toilets... The kit man would have had no reason to go into the toilets. I'm not entirely sure why the Coach Driver was with the kit man anyway?? Unless it actually happened during the day on the Monday, considering it was a 7.45 kick off.

I don't recall Palace ever mentioning it. Though we was on the road to Wembley, so I'm not sure we'd have had the time to acknowledge it.

Of course the kit man would know. I've been on the stadium tour and the toilets are part of the dressing room.
Do you really think that McCarthy didn't talk to the other players? I watched the video shown from the testimonial and the two players were laughing about it.

And?

The club knew nothing of it.

The point being, the club DID find out the truth at some point over the past 20 months (probably very soon after the incident), but have made no public attempt to apologise or set the record straight, despite the knowledge that we carried out a formal investigation which placed several employees wrongly under suspicion.

Relations between the two clubs must now be at an all-time low, and I fear what will happen off the pitch the next time the clubs play each other.

Apparently, relations between the respective boards were cordial. I doubt that they are now.

I said 1 player mentioned it.

Of course they all knew afterwards.

They did not know on the night of the game.

What time did this all take place? Were Palace delayed outside the ground, therefore causing stress to the driver? Did he feel the urgent need to relieve himself rather than perform his duties (bit strange as not a Palace employee, just a driver)?

I can envisage a stressed-up bloke behind the wheel, desperately trying to deliver the players to the ground being delayed and generally mucked about, feeling caught short (we've all been there) and running into the away dressing-room toilets just too late. Then trying to clear the mess up before the team arrive.

I can also imagine a wily character like Ollie realising that is one way to power up and motivate his team, especially Zaha. So it's down to Ollie I think. Take it out on Millwall the next time, assuming he's still there.

Well, I'm sure we'll meet in a cup at some point in the next few years to find out.

There you go. You have just admitted that the Palace camp knew the truth soon after the game, yet you cannot bring yourself to concede that your club acted despicably in not revealing the truth and thereby clearing Brighton & Hove Albion's name.
