Hello boys and girls, can I come and play?

Have been reading NSC for ages and particularly the music threads. Since I've clearly been standing next to more than one of you at a bunch of gigs in Brighton, it's begun to feel a bit like stalking, so I thought it was time to introduce myself.

So far this year I'm booked in for JAMC, Underworld and Sleaford Mods, plus Great Escape. Oh, and the intriguing Richard Dawson at West Hill Hall. And looking at a few things like White Fence and Nisennenmondai. But I was particularly wondering whether any fellow Kraftwerk aficionados were going along to this:

(Apologies if link doesn't work!)

Welcome - I can't wait for thaqt Richard Dawson gig - he released one of my favourite albums of last year, it's like a Trout Mask Replica take on traditional folk music. Quite unlike anything I've heard before. Make sure you catch Lutine in support, a unique and brilliant minimal, classical, folk duo, with harmonies to die for.

The two other gigs you mention are most definitely on my list.

Would not suprise me if Sleaford Mods ended up being support for the tour.

That's a good shout.

I'm going to see them at their Tunbridge Wells Forum gig on April 4th. Literally, the last chance to see them in a small venue until god knows when.

I have the feeling that once the intimacy is stripped away from them they won't actually be that good, live.

Got Amon Amarth at the Concorde on friday, a nice metal start to the new year. J Mascis at the Haunt last week was superb, loudest 'acoustic' gig I've ever been to.

Very tempted by Hudson Taylor at C2 in Feb. Anyone else going?

Greetings. Going to Sleaford Mods (intrigued to see them), but not interested in the conference -- are you presenting?

Hi there, missed the Mods last year so we thought we'd get in early this time. I'm only ligging along to the Kraftwerk thing as a fan, but v interested to see Stephen Mallinder in particular - had no idea he now taught at Brighton Univ!

Birmingham on a Wednesday or Thursday in January cannot be done, unfortunately.

I'll see you at JAMC, Sleaford Mods and White Fence!

You haven't got a ticket for Benjamin Booker that you don't need, have you?

Joys of self-employment, mate! Though it'll probably cost me my weekend.

And I reckon White Fence is a must.

It's a no on the Benjamin Booker, tho . . .

I truelly believe that if they had both turned up that time at the Albert it would have been a very special evening.

Welcome! I'm not going to the Kraftwerk event but I went to a similar thing in London a few years ago which was based on the band Laibach. Was rather interesting especially the interview with one of the founders.

Hi, shame I missed that! I did go to an IRWIN/NSK exhibition at the Contact Gallery in London a year or two back, wonder if it tied in?

Cheers, that was delightful, will make sure I catch them. Are you familiar with Virginia Astley from a few years back?

And do you know if the Outer Church is still going? Never quite made it along . . .

.

It was 14th April 2012. Same day we got beat 6-0 by West Ham. Was a strange day, started off with the Laibach/NSK talks and conference, hot footed it across London to see the Albion in the afternoon, back across town for a fancy dinner at Le Gavroche and then onto Tate Modern to see Laibach perform in the evening.

I don't but it sounds like I should

AFAIK, Joseph was looking to spread the Gospel of The Outer Church and has been neglecting Brighton, the last one was in September I think

I'm sure it will be back. Every one I've been to has been a winner.
