Gus is never coming back unless Tony and Gus repair their working relationship.

Whilst he delivered some great times, Gus was flawed.

We need a 'New Gus', maybe a better version, without the problems.

I'll give you one, Danny Murphy. Fulham made a massive mistake overlooking him for the failure that will be Kit Symons. Their oversight can be your good fortune.
Oh, and while Gus has done all right for us I still miss Paolo.

None of us really know but I have come to the conclusion that Gus wanted to go. For me that was sad and I think it was also for TB. He wants continuity in managers, he has made that very clear. He didn't want to sack Gus. I reckon Gus wanted his contract paid up because of what he had done for the club. The board did not agree and got rid at no cost. Paul Barber was voted, by his peers, as CEO of the year.
Oscar was given a 3 year contract and walked away, at no cost, because he said he wanted to go back to Tel Aviv. Sami has been given a 3 year contract and TB will expect him to fulfill that, like he has the last 2 managers.
I wish people would get of TBs back. This is not a computer game, it's real life.

In 'real life' would you commit yourself to employ someone who has no previous success as a manager for 3 year? With GP and OG it was a gamble too but they had a good prior track record.

That's not actually true, is it. GP had never been a manager, OG had one season in Israel, and did well by winning the league. Hardly Championship hardened though is it?
What I was trying to say was that TB wants longevity. He does not want to be changing managers every summer. I think that is pretty clear. It is why I think he will be very reluctant to change managers now. All the rage on here and the Argus will probably make no difference at all.

They had better CVs in terms of being potential managers as was borne out. I'd love to be wrong but we seem to be getting worse every month, so in 3 years ….. !!!

Why are you only analysing the first season back in the Championship - did you expect us to walk the league after just getting promoted? Of course, finishing 10th was an absolute disaster.

Yeah I see where you are coming from. Be honest though, they were all a punt. I can't get Newcastle and West Ham out of my mind. It's not the same but I wonder if Tony thinks it is? Let's face it, he is the only one that matters.

You seem very naive, to get this straight if Hypia managed to relegate us to league 2 all would be rosy with you so long as he has fulfilled his three year contract?

Naive? What are you on? Oh shit! I have bitten, haven't I,

He only appealed in front of the board, but he didn't take it to an independent court to appeal when he said that he was going to. Probably because it was too time consuming and expensive for a charge that is easy to prove. Gross misconduct can be for minor things.

Poyet doesn't have to go to court to give his version of what happened, maybe it is just too embarrassing to publicly talk about it.

I don't think so; the text below is from my ACAS guide.
“Gross misconduct” is conduct so serious as to justify dismissal without notice or payment in lieu of notice. There is no statutory definition of what constitutes gross misconduct and to a certain extent it is for employers to decide whether misconduct is to be considered as "gross", "serious" or otherwise. In determining what amounts to "gross" misconduct, context is paramount. What amounts to gross misconduct should be considered in relation to the business and the role of the employee. An employer may consider an instance of misconduct to be serious, but is it "gross" misconduct? Employers should ask themselves – is the conduct so serious and damaging to the business that it breaks the employment relationship between employer and employee? Does it make a continued working relationship and trust impossible? Was it a deliberate and wilful breach of the contract and/or does the conduct amount to gross negligence?

Acas provides a non-exhaustive list of what will usually be considered to be gross misconduct:
Theft
Dishonesty
Malicious damage
Fighting/assaulting another person
Serious incapability through alcohol or illegal drugs
Endangering the safety of others by breaching Health and Safety Laws
Fraud
Gross negligence
Serious insubordination
