Post 236 explains all

Fair enough.

Most of it was conspiracy based nonsense after all. However the spelling and grammar had improved a good deal and he does have a teeny, tiny point about a level of respect being due to Mr Hart. There's an awful lot of posts on NSC about how we should be careful of criticising a man who is basically funding the club. Perhaps people should think of that when they criticise someone who helped ensure there is a club for TB to fund.

I would balance that up by stating, for the unaware, that Bozza is also responsible for a great deal more than people credit him with in regards to the club keeping going in the dark days of Gillingham. Without the mailing list and later NSC, as well as Scars and Stripes, I think I might have fallen out of love with the club permanently.

It makes me wonder why bother putting in all those hours, the effort, the pressure, the considerable amount of stress and money into saving something.
Not to mention gaining respect and reverence from thousands.
Only to crap all over it just a few years later.

He's not crapping all over it. He's a fan expressing an honest opinion which many of the old guard share. By that I don't mean a Dick Knight clique either, I mean people who have been around a while and seen a lot.

Just like me, although obviously not to the levels of many.

Nevertheless if someone had said to us stood on a crumbling near derelict Goldstone:-

'In 15 years you can have all this ...'

not a single person would have backed out, and many many more who didn't have the belief would have thrown themselves into the cause, a group that includes myself.
So clearly I have a lot to be grateful to Harty, et al, for.

I don't like 21st century soccerball.
I love my rose tinted specs.
I hate the amount of money in the game.
I do feel 'removed' from my club.

But that doesn't mean I'm instantly going to vent my spleen at one man who's having to play the 'football finance game', in an incredibly tough situation.

I certainly would be doing it from my private box.
I certainly wouldn't be undermining my team and manager.
The first section was an appalling piece of doommongery that has turned out to be wrong.
All printed in a local paper, read by supporters of the club.

So you're happy with the summer recruitment? Do you think Tony Bloom is really happy that his personal fortune is paying for Agustien and Toko to stay in the gym and Chris O'Grady to be Not Ashley Barnes?

As for the last line that is entirely the point. I doubt the paper would print a three liner that basically said "It's all great innit". It's neither true nor interesting. Yes, there are exaggerations in that article but, sadly, most journalists these days on local papers or red tops have to do exactly the same. Have you seen how much click bait the Mail publishes on an average day?

Off to Rememberence now, so if either of us can be bother we'll have to pick this up later.

But I will quickly say.
I doubt Tony is so naive to believe every deal he makes will be a winner.
Especially the ones made on a very tight budget.

The internet really is a strange beast and I genuinely believe that many people including lots posting in this thread (i include myself in this generalisation) tend to react in a disproportionate manner. In real life, face to face if someone made a snidey comment or said something a bit controversial there may be a comment made back or a brief and possibly heated exchange of views but it would rarely reach the levels often seen here and elsewhere on other sites. It seems to me that in the comfort, sanctity and anonymity of our own homes we are more often likely to write stuff and react in ways we would not normally and this is reflected in manynof the posts in this thread. From what i have read Harty made comments alluding to the fact that NSC may have deleted various threads at the behest of the club or influenced by someone there, then there was some affronted denial and a bit of anti-harty sentiment all concluded with a few pertinent facts thrown in and an apology.

Was all this really necessary I wonder? I revert back to the 'real life' scenario and surmise that had everyone been in the same room having this discussion it would not have been any where near as inflammatory or confrontational and would have been done and dusted in minutes with a few frank opinions aired and the phrase, 'do me favour mate' used quite liberally.

The problem is whilst most of us want to be reasonable albeit a tad controversial to spice things up, when someone personally insults you, misinterprets you and is generally witless, it's hard to stop tapping.

What a surprise, this account links to an already banned one.........
Surely the point of banning someone from here is to stop them posting, so if he's banned from here, why don't you delete his post?

But Harty's comments weren't face to face, they were to a larger audience and so it's more likely to bother people when they're wrong.

The Worthing Herald? :lolol:

The irony of this is, NSC probably has more registered users than the WH has subscribers.

It's good to remember but I suspect most of the then surviving WW1 Toms would have appreciated a bit more tangible gratitude when they returned post war.

All the mods were doing so well with their light-hearted jokes and anecdotes but one doesn't quite get the memo and decides to check out/doxx this inconvenient-opinioned poster.

You know these insinuations of being club poodles will all go away quickly if you stop acting so thin-skinned, right?

Someone requests that the mods areas is shown, and it is shown, someone also requests that all meetings and conversations between Bozza and the mods with Paul Barber are brought out into the open, and they are listed. I'm not sure of the point you are trying to make.

1: It wasn't clear from the original post who made it, it was only discovered after a review of IP addresses, and by that time a number of responses had been made.

2: Other stories in the Worthing Herald this week include

****Fantastic job keeping the garden tidy****
****Car park toilet disgusts disabled veteran****
****Car set alight on Littlehampton bypass****

Don't miss this one, from the Sports section:

WORTHING Pavilion Bowling Club are looking forward to welcoming a high calibre of players for their first indoor PlanetBowls event. The Jack of Clubs Open begins tomorrow and continues on Saturday and Sunday. There will be 76 entrants competing, with Commonwealth Games medallists and England internationals involved.

It's in the Shoreham Herald too, but I wonder how many people that buy, or even read online, either publication can actually be bothered to read what Harty writes in his column.
Less than half I bet.
