You obviously went to the same school as I did.

Only I remember them as Langton (me), Danny, Pakyns and Wickham. When were you there?

This.

I was also Langton which was red. Danny Blue - Pakyns Green - Wickham Yellow. When i was at school i remember Danny house winning most things.

Southwick
Lewes, Pevensey, Bramber, Arundel at middle school. (Glebe)
Same, was in Pevensey yellow like my older brother. Saying that although I was in K5, for sports day and inter house tournaments I'm sure they were basque, Brittany and two others ???
Presumably that was the one in Southwick? When I went to there, they were
Arundel (red)
Bramber (yellow)
Hastings (green)
Lewes (blue) - mine

Well well well.

Same here, though mainly the sporty stuff.

I think the houses were:

Hurst
Collyers
Denne
Mercers

I was in Denne, which is why I remember!

1956-62. Hence my Username!
I am fairly sure there was a St. Leonards in my time (72-79) with colour green. I was in Mercers (black). Hurst was (I think) red, beyond that I am struggling but some copies of the Collyerian from the loft may cover my failing memory.

Never had them at my schools. What are they? I've always assumed that they(whatever they are) were some form of posh school bollocks but it unless everyone in NSC went to private school it seems they're a common thing in all schools. What are these 'houses' all about?!

Looks like we all went to Steyning Grammar School! Although I was in Holland but I was never a boarder. Tooting Gull went to Steyning too. What year were you both there?

69-76. Sometime at Shooting Field and some at the old school. I remember a couple of teachers; Miss Lewis and Mr Alabone who taught History of Art and coached the school footie team.

I don't wish to be rude here. But I'm just imagining the hilarity amongst other kids if you were put in a house called "Downs"

In the simplistic dark ages of 1970s people with Downs were simply referred to as "Mongs" so the house name didn't really have a other connotation. Plus, from memory, Mr Lowe was the head of Downs and man you didn't want to diss his house or mess with him in any way. Every school has a teacher who can scare the B'jesus out of you and he was that teacher at Warden Park.
