Approx 5,000 tickets sold v Southampton

It's a bit dissapointing. Prices have been set very competitively and I fear that if there is not a good takle-up then the club will think twice about generous offers such as this in future.

Looks like crowd forecasts are in line with previous evening pre-season Amex friendlies of this type (Norwich, reading) so not sure it's disappointing. But agreed. Who knows. There will be a fair bit of walk up from both Saints and us I think. Or perhaps there won't

It's okay... saints isn't exactly a big game in a friendly. If this was a cup game clearly this would be over 22k and probably more.

I'm not bothered at all with any pre season friendly unless it's against a massive club like Athletico Madrid, Bayern, Milan, Arsenal, Liverpool, Dortmund, Real, Barca etc.

I am bothered about any competitive game though, even one against say Leyton Orient or York City.

I'm sure there's plenty of others who share the same priorities. Competitive games first, saving all money for that! Can't wait for Sheff Weds game now!

Friendly games are very important for the clubs involved but they are glorified training matches and should be sold as such. £5 adult and kids free would be about the right price unless it is against someone special.

I'm amazed that the club can find 5000 people willing to part with their hard earned for this match.

I think it would have been quite exciting to see some exciting English talent: Lambert, Lallana, Shaw, Chambers...

Unfortunately, none of those players play for Southampton.

Poor. Bournemouth had 7,500. I might give it a miss. Undecided. Sami's home debut should be worth 3,000

It is the West Coastway trains that will stop me going to a friendly. They are just too bad for evening games.

Mate said Saints travel in real numbers and a bumper away turnout could really boost that gate annd get it up towards five figures.

We must have different opinions then. As £14 for a training match against a completely depleted side is not what I would consider value for money.

Southampton have sold under 500 tickets according to one of their fans who posts on this board.

Even Saints fans are giving this game a swerve , their allocation of 863 hasn't sold out and remaining tickets will be available from The Amex on the day.

£14 against usual match day price of £39 in wsl is a bargain. Would however prefer a friendly against a team that we haven't played recently. Surely Hugh interest to see whether the home bench is the one favoured by Oscar or reverts to the Gus bench worth the admission price alone.

Anybody planning on nipping into the Amex to buy a ticket in person, I'd strongly advise against it unless you've got a couple of hours to kill. I went up there this morning about 11am and had a pretty grim Ticket Office Experience. The previously super-speedy and efficient ticket office operation was no more, hopefully temporarily. Tickets for the Saints game were on sale from West Stand reception area. Think of your worst Post Office queue experience, then double it. There were two ladies sat behind desks, one who's sole function was to tell anybody who asked that she wasn't selling tickets. Or apparently doing anything else either. The other lady WAS selling tickets, as well as corporate packages and all sorts of stuff that involved a lengthy process. I was there for 20 minutes and she served precisely two customers. The elderly gentleman in front of me only wanted to pick up two tickets for tomorrow. He was fuming worse than I was. Had planned on having a leisurely pint and panini in Dick's Bar, but by the time I finally managed to be allowed to do my 2 minute ticket buying transaction, I'd had quite enough of leisurely service for one day.

7k against Soton is disappointing. That said they played Swindon away and they got 3k with 1k from Soton. Would have expected 10 -12k for this one.

Think about the extra 5000 (est.) supporters that would have turned up and if 5% of those extra supporters bought gear from the club shop... that would have been a good money-spinner.

Seeing a friendly where no-one really cares who wins is filed under 'it's something to do unless you have something better to do'. If it was Barca where we can watch Messi jog around the pitch I'd probably go. Southampton? Nah.

There's another 23 games to go to in 10 days time (woohoo) so I'll save sitting on my lovely blue seat until then.
