I disagree. I honestly do not think the club are silly enough to buy COG for half a mil and use him as a replacement for Ulloa.

We were one striker short with Ulloa in the squad as it was

I wasn't saying he is the replacement, I'm saying it looks like it because of the timing and that won't be helpful to him. Looks like an upgrade on Hoskins.

I hope he 'corrects' us.

Imagine this hypothetical scenario:

Sami Hyypia wants Albion's attack to be technical and speedy. Perhaps a big target man doesn't fit neatly into his vision.

Is it better to have a £8m Plan B or a £500k Plan B with the latter, of course, permitting strengthening elsewhere?

As I say - all hypothetical.

I was thinking along the same lines. I did not like the predominance of lumping the ball to Ulloa.

He doesn't look particularly mobile or fast but he certainly knows where the goal is.

I was underwhelmed when I heard but looking at those videos he seems a bit of a 'fox in the box' type player

Chris O'Grady has played against us a few times. The performance that sticks in my mind was Rochdale away where he was awesome. We need more options and whilst Leo is a good target man we tended to be too one dimensional with him up top on his own. I am sure this will not be the end of recruitment.

need cms to extend his contract asap as this is the last year. Otherwise any money we make will all be gone on replacing strikers. As this could be cms's last year i think he'll be on fire this year.:bhasign:

Brilliant. You moan, I make a comment, you make a sarcastic remark. Very clever (or pathetic).

No mate, I along with many others share a different opinion on a football forum, only to get flamed and abused. Funnily enough it's just as boring the other way around you know, constantly having the divine members of NSC tell you how wrong you are and using aggressive language. Of course you'll not see it from that perspective will you :)

Whilst desperately trying to save every penny they can, I find it quite unlikely they will want to extend a 30 year olds contract, especially when he's a) probably a very high earner b) never really shown he's good enough.

If he signs then that's 3 players signed and not one that has made me punch the air in delight. In fact quite the opposite. Can we start back in June again to give our recruitment team more time? So depressing.

Sad to see Leo go as he was a fantastic target man and will be hard act to replace but lets give some credit to the club here for getting a proper fee for once. To many times we have let excellent players leave on the cheap. We have certainly smashed our transfer record fee received here.

This. Busy player, bags of heart, lacks quality.

Not really. Biggest season ticket holders in Championship last 2 years, biggest crowds, sold Barnes & Bridcutt for £4-5m, Ulloa off for £7m, and we sign someone of this calibre.

Should we only be signing absolute superstars then? Why would someone like that come to play second fiddle to Ulloa / Ulloa's replacement? Seems a solid signing to me, don't forget we need to replace Barnes, Hoskins and Ulloa, not just Ulloa.
