I've had one in the back for a month an I've been fairly happy with it.

Rolls OK, not like an expensive tyre but OK.

Holds pressure really well.

Seems to have good puncture resistance. Certainly better than the Mavics I had before
Cool thanks for that.

I'll make the purchase at the end of the month.

Ok I'll try and write long enough the get my question across before the ridicule reigns down on me.

I've been a Michelin Pro Race guy, for longer than I can remember.
My current tyres are beginning to show some signs of age, and are in need of a swap.

Now I could get Pro Race 3's or 4's.

But I'm being drawn towards Vittoria Rubino Pro's, has anybody any experience of these.
How do they ride and roll, p******* resistant, etc.

Hey I got to the end, so that's ok then, there's no need to even wonder where the ridicule might come in.

My favourite tyres. They roll well, and are a very smooth ride.

I did the whole of LEJOG + a couple of thousand miles of training for it on a pair of these - no punctures at all.

This has dropped off the front page, rather shockingly.

I've been having puncture issues recently - about 4 in the past 6 weeks. Real bugger, and I've even changed the tyre (to a Vittoria) and it doesn't seem to have changed my luck. Still, I'm a lot more proficient at a roadside change of inner tube than I used to be!

Had a bit of a splurge on new gear the other day, CO2 pump and some clothing, including my first pair of bibshorts (link). What's the NSC Geek club view on underwear with shorts?

Ha ha I had this awkward chat with Pogue Mahone not so long ago. I've lurched from commando to non-commando in the bib shorts, and now mainly go commando. Shorter rides I might leave the undies on though….

As you may have seen on Strava, some ******* has nicked my small pump, so I've had to order another.

This bad boy arrived today though and it's AMAZING. Can't believe how cheap it was, it's really solid and works fantastically. The it clips on really well rather than feeling like the Presta will snap as other pumps do.

On the bike front, a friend has recommended Planet X and I think that may be the answer for me...

You CANNOT wear underpants when you are wearing bib shorts.

I hope this helps.

You won't regret investing in padded bib shorts but undies are out, irrespective of the distance involved. Creates far too much clutter downstairs for comfort.

Despite having a derriere that is now reasonably well conditioned to my saddle (and vice versa) I can also recommend applying a generous dab or two of zinc cream around (ahem) the gentlemen's parts especially before partaking of a longer ride. IMO the combined effect with padded shorts is for a comfortable ride and the bonus of no tender dangly bits or other adjacent contact points. I guess there may be other Geeks who might recommend their own preferred products - or just 'man up' and take the pain....

I've got plenty of padded bib shorts, and pretty much always in my birthday suit when I put them on!

Excellent, that it sorted. I have shorts (of the non-bib variety) that I wear with underwear for commuting because I only have one pair and can't wash them at work. However I'll use the bib shorts for longer rides and can happily wash them after each one, so commando it is.

I've managed to spend £200 on my bike and assorted accessories this week, ooops!

Absolutely this. Any kind of underwear with padded cycling shorts (and probably non-padded) will result in MASSIVE chafing!!!

Underwear is a recipe for disaster.

Also, sten, modern shorts are so good that they are perfectly ok to wear on the commute in and back again. They will dry in minutes and are definitely preferable to underwear.

The obvious question regarding this is tyre pressure.
I had a ride today, gave my tyres the customary squeeze, and thought 'they'll do for one more'.
As I scooted down to Phil's they didn't feel right so I popped home.

Both were below 80 psi, even though they felt ok (enough).
That's over 20% less than I usually have them.

Today I managed to dive into every crater on the road.
Had I not pumped them up, I'm sure one of these road caves would have p********d me or worse.

What is wrong with the word puncture? I mean, I know if you rearrange some of the letters it's a bit rude, but bizarre that the swear filter doesn't like the word p u n c t u r e .

I didn't want to say for fear of looking weird(er).

Sten isn't helping himself by giving 'them' a name.
I've never written that word, and it works for me!!
