Here's the source for the latest news on the negotiations. Leicester Mercury. Story was updated this morning.

It is understood City have now made three substantial bids for the targetman, thought to be considerably more than the £3 million reported.
All three bids were rejected by Brighton, who are standing firm over their striker and have set an asking price of nearly £10 million for the Argentinian. Talks are by no means over, though, and Brighton are expecting another bid.

ALF isn't worth anything like as much as Ulloa. He's half the player!

Not saying he is, just stating for 1m that's a good price for a good player. I doubt we would have to spend 5m to replace Leo, it won't be easy but it can be done. Murray 1 -1.5? Bobby Free (just wages an issue)? Troy Deeney 3 - 4 (maybe)?

So £3m, £3.5m and £4m?

I'm not sure he's even that. Ulloa is a bit annoying when he's not scoring, Le Fondre is non-existant
Perfectly correct.

You've just named 3 players, all cheaper and not as good as Ulloa. Come back with a player as good as Ulloa who we can get quickly, for £5m or less.

Because so far, you argued against my point that we couldn't quickly replace Ulloa for £5m, but have failed to provide an alternative.

However, we have to recognise that apart from maybe 4 clubs in the world, every other club is a "selling" club. So if we get a price that means we can adequately replace Leo, then of course we should sell. We're not in the business of curtailing players' careers - if we did that, nobody would ever come here. But that selling price should be big enough that we should make a healthy profit AND enable us to adequately replace him. And that figure is NOT £5m + future add-ons.

Suggests to me that the bids have been pretty risible so far.

I don't think we have set a rigid asking price but rebuffed the offers and suggested a starting point for proper negotiations to take place will be an eight figure sum. TB needs to talk up Ulloa in the same fashion as Prince Charming did with Winifred.

Okay fair point: But Deeney did score 24 goals in an average team this season think he could do a good job in replacing Leo in my opinion.

Ross McCormack 3.5- 5?

Murray 1 -1.5? proven Championship player, give him the amo he will score and that's still leaves 3.5.

Leo is good, but not that good. No I don't want him to leave but if Leo's head gets turned no point in him being here anyway, and in 4 play-off games he didn't score when it mattered.

That's all, just the way I see it. Others will disagree but this board is built on opinions and arguments.

I look forward to the "How much did we sell Ulloa for?" threads and polls when he goes for an undisclosed sum.

Matty Fryatt & Leroy Lita - Both free.

I'll give you Fryatt at a push, Dick, but Lita is gash and nowhere near Ulloa's level.

Conor Wickham is someone we might want to look at if Gus didn't want him. The problem with Wickham and Fryatt is that both are likely to absolutely ruin our wage structure.

Yep, TBH I'd be embarrassed if we were making derisory bids for a top 6 Championship club's leading (read: only) goalscorer. Being told £10m instead of £3m, and coming back with £3.5m, is just taking the piss, even more so with your pockets brimming with Sky gold. FWIW I think they're trying to provoke a transfer request, which is a bit naughty but comes with the territory these days I suppose. If they're serious then IMO it's pretty inevitable he'll go for c£5/6m + add-ons, but I'd actually be surprised if they went much higher than they are now, as there's better value for them to be found abroad or from the free transfer pool.

As I said earlier in the thread - anything over 6-7M I personally would let him go, on his day he's an utter beast but he's quite inconsistent and spends too much time failing to win free kicks. I like him as a bloke & a player don't get me wrong but that is a hell of a lot of money, 7M and I think he's Leicester's.

The good thing is the bargaining chips are in our hand, we don't need to sell & hopefully Ulloa will remain professional unlike Bridcutt & not hand in a transfer request.
