Thought for a while you were going to tell us it,s going to be Hughton for a THIRD time...to match the number of **** Official Match Thread***** you started.

And we all know how well that went...don't we ?

On a side note, the timing of Dave Clement's suicide (1982) means Paul was around ten years old at the time. That is pretty rough! Can only imagine how that must have been to cope with.

Here
To be honest I'm not overly excited about any of the so-called favourites for our job.

At least with Oscar there was an element of the unknown for the first few months after his appointment and the hope that he might just do something unexpected, an illusion that gradually evaporated.

However I suspect with Hughton it would be very much a case of 'what you see is what you get' right from the off. He has a decent record at this level but I can't get too excited when his name is mentioned. Tony Bloom would rightly expect an experienced manager like Hughton to get us into the PL - but there has to be a question whether he has what it takes to keep us there?

I am really surprised that everyone is so excited about him.

He conveys the managers wishes to the players during the game and when substitutes are going on. Plus helps out Zidane in training?

I would much rather have an experienced manager even if from the lower leagues. Someone who knows how to get a team promoted.
Preferably playing attacking football.

Have to say I totally agree.
Really can't get excited about Clement. No experience as a manager & has only just come to prominence because he's the only English cog in the Real Madrid machine that happened coincidently to be playing in the Champions League Final at the same time we're looking for a new manager. In my eyes he is only a relatively small cog at that. If he becomes the next Brighton manager I hope I'm proved very wrong.
After saying all that, I'm sure TB will appoint the right man (or woman!) & I will give whoever that is my 100% support.
My choice - Malky Mackay.

Just because you might have only just become aware of Paul Clement doesn't mean that's true for everybody else.

Chris Hughton would seem a good fit and must be the favourite I reckon. But I just can't get excited about him at all - I simply find him unconvincing as a manager. He would probably do OK, but that's about it (and by that I mean an upper mid-table finish*)

* Mind you, that would be some achievement given the current state of our squad!

Odd isn't it.

The Albion are linked with a guy that was 'unknown'.

NSC courtesy of the 'dark horse' thread does a full CRB background check of the fella, quoting:-
Spanish press.
English press.
French press.
Radio and TV interviews,
Quotes from Ancellotti.
Linking him to working with Burke at Fulham, some 8 years ago.
Listing all the positions he's held in England.
His European experience.
The caliber of player he's coached.

and yet after all of that we still get:-

He must be s**t cos I ain't heard of him, so I assume he just puts the cones out.
