Police probe 'financial irregularities' by UKIP in relation to party funding.

1 April 2014 at 11:03

The Metropolitan Police said they were looking into a series of allegations made against Nigel Farage’s party by former UKIP press officer and parliamentary candidate Jasna Badzak. David Manning, an acting detective superintendent at Scotland Yard, outlined five claims that he intends to investigate in an e-mail sent to Ms Badzak last week. They include financial irregularities “regarding the funding of the party” as well as a number of other allegations made against individuals associated with Ukip.

It is understood that Mr Manning has already interviewed at least one person named in connection with the complaints. A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said that no arrests had been made. Mr Farage already faces an official inquiry into allegations that Ukip may have breached parliamentary rules by using taxpayers’ money to fund its political operations.

A former member of the UKIP press office, who is not Ms Badzak, claimed that staff were improperly paid out of funds received by the party through its membership of a political group called Europe of Freedom and Democracy. European Parliament rules state that such funds must not be used to “finance political parties at national and European level.” “I was paid by the EFD group in the European Parliament, even though I worked exclusively for UKIP in the UK,” the whistleblower said. “The money was paid into my bank account directly from the EFD group.”

A Ukip spokesman last night declined to comment on Scotland Yard’s inquiries. The party has previously stated that its MEPs are “careful to observe European parliamentary rules when spending resources on funding the goal of British withdrawal” and that it was “wholly legitimate” for some EFD staff to work out of London.

Yeah, that will be it. Negative press.

Obviously it is a press smear campaign that has turned people against UKIP. It can't possibly be the constant crap their members come out with or the unpleasantness of their rhetoric.

That video earlier shown Farage's "truths" for exactly what they are. Hyperbole and sensationalism to whip the hard of thinking up into a frenzy.

strange how we fought 2 world wars to rid ourselves from german dictatorship in 2 triumphant victories yet we find ourselves today ruled by those who perpetrated it ?
now we find ourselves humiliated & grovelling to a rat faced angela merkel for something we know we haven't got a cat in hells chance of getting !!
our forefathers sacrificed their lives at what cost ? they all died in vain and the establishment who should be ashamed of themselves owes em a big apology.

ukip are the only ones out there to rid us from this travesty.

This ex Labour DOES seem to "represent the majority of the UKIP".
Mr Wallace, who has been a part of the Labour Party since the late 1970s, said that he now finds himself at increasingly odds with the Ed Miliband's party's polices over a whole range of issues, particularly on immigration and Britain's relationship with the European Union. He leaves the party "more in sorrow than in anger" and has today joined UKIP's policy scrutiny committee.

Mr Wallace was first invited to join the LGFI group in 1988 after a number of one-to-one meetings with the late Shadow Chancellor John Smith MP. The LGFI has donated hundreds of thousands of pounds to the Labour Party over the past few years. Since 2005, the LGFI and the West Midlands LGFI have donated a total of around £220,695.

An experienced and long-standing member, Mr Wallace served on the working groups for Labour on Business, Innovation and Skills; Small and Medium Enterprise: Transport; Construction; Housing; Environment; Defence (Vice Chair); City regulation and the creative industries. He also served on the LFIG Executive on two occasions first in the mid 90's and most recently since 2004 to the present day. Mr Wallace was also a paid up member of the Labour Party donors group 'The Thousand Club' until April 2014, which requires members to donate between £1200 and £5000 per year.

He told Breitbart London: "I have been a member and supporter of the Labour Party since 1979 however, in recent years, I have become increasingly disillusioned by the direction the Labour Party has taken and find myself increasingly at odds with the party's policies across a wide range of issues and in particular the vital issues of immigration and Britain's relationship with the EU.
