I thought the transfer ban didn't kick in until next Jan - but maybe that is on this years (2013/14) financial results. Can someone clarify (EP?)? This would be good news for us assuming neither team were promoted.

The journo doesn't have all the proper FACTS , they've assumed the embargo starts at the beginning of the 2014/2015 season whereas any transfer embargo will be imposed in January (2015) after the accounts for the 2013/2014 season are filed and revealed in December 2014.

That is contrary to what I understood for FFP where if you gamble and 'win' you escape FFP penalties. It's hard to see how the Football League could impose a penalty upon a club it no longer has any control over (i.e. one that has moved from Football League -> Premier League).

I guess they will try and pin them on that they incurred those losses whilst still under their control (ie, this season).

I think you are wrong we have bigger crowds than QPR so should be able to compete with them on a level playing field if not be better off.

Higher crowds don't necessarily mean more money - there's lot of factors to take into account (staffing, price of tickets etc). Plus they have parachute payments.

Surely the question Fernandes should be asking Redknapp and his motley band of mercenaries "What the f*ck am I paying you for!". Their limp performance both last year and this go to show that JUST splashing the cash gets you nowhere, you need talent and more importantly APPLICATION too.

Can't imagine that QPR's millionaire wastrels are too bothered about whether they go up or not as (assuming they haven't all flushed their cash down the toilet) they are made for life already.

The overpaying of mediocre players is something that chairmen will have to get to grips with eventually.

I thought it was to shared out with all the teams that applied to the FFP, I guess as eluded to in another post the Premiership teams did not like that idea so it was changed. How the rich look after themselves eh, sick to honest. FFP is not fair, even if you stick to the rules. And anyway if a team that failed to go up then has a transfer embargo would that not still hinder them financially ie players on massive wages which could spiral out of control and the club sink like a stone Portsmouth Styley.

The transfer embargo would allow sales of players, but not purchasing players OR contract extensions. The idea is for the clubs to manage these contracts properly and if they cannot, then they will either have to ship the high earners out or lose them on a Bosman at the end of their contract.

I think I remember reading that if a club refuses to pay fines under FFP as set down by Football League rules, then they could face Football League expulsion in the event of relegation if they do not pay the fine.

In addition, the fact that all clubs are affiliated to the Football League means that by doing so they are agreeing to, at the beginning of each season, abide by that League's rules. In the event that they breach or contravene these rules, then Football League can then refer them to the Football Association who can subsequently annul the club's affiliation to them meaning that they will be unable to operate in any footballing capacity.

So if they don't go up all they have is a transfer embargo.. We all know a transfer embargo from the Football League equates to a club carrying on as normal and just getting the FL to rubber stamp deals. It in no way actually prohibits them signing anybody. See Watford.

It's such a load of crap. OK so let's say QPR miss out this year, they get an embargo (which is essentially pointless), they play next season with the same unbelievable squad and go up. Once they're up they avoid penalties because they are no longer part of the Football League.

Yes on a level playing field if clubs abide by FFP we can compete in the transfer market. What I am saying is that if we were willing to overspend on players this season, there would still be clubs who would out bid us and up their offers to players.

Given that their income for 13-14 is going to have reduced by about 40m, it doesn't look good.
