And you're probably correct, after all, who'd have thought Wimbledon would've made it to the top flight and the FA Cup Final eh? After all, it was only about '74 that Dickie Guy was saving Lorimer penalties. AFCB since late '60s, so perhaps you missed the 20,000+ gates at Dean Court versus B&HA in the early '70s? I don't know fully how FFP works, do you? I do know there are loopholes, which are being exploited by some clubs. We don't have a billionaire owner, apparently he's only worth circa £500 million, which as we all know is loose change; however I do know (thanks to a Moscow-based friend) how he made his money, which suggests he's rather canny and financially savvy, so it's just possible he will find a route through FFP.

With respect to the relative merits of B&HA versus AFCB, we have a far larger catchement area than you. The East Dorset Conurbation, which is centred around B'mouth/Poole is closer to 600,000 than 500,000. Brighton has a population of what, 175,000? We have the problem that too many glory hunters have trotted up the road to watch Stains over the years and coupled with 70-odd years in the third division, that's had a detrimental effect on our gates. However, despite the conception given by the popular sitcom, Waiting for God (set in Bournemouth but actually filmed in Sussex) and Christchurch having the second oldest demographic in the country, it's not all old fogeys and incomers in East Dorset/West Hants. So the potential for growth and decent gates is easily obtainable but it'll take a few years in the second tier to get them up.

That's not a fair comparison. You can't compare a conurbation with a City (especially when that city is also part of a conurbation)

According to wikipedia, the 2011 census puts the population of the South East Dorset Conurbation as 466,626

It was just your assumption that I didn't know about Wimbledon, Reading et al that I found a bit patronising. TBH I don't remember the 20k gates at Dean Court, although I did visit, and have visited your 'new' home too. I've always found my trips to Bournemouth enjoyable, with good friendly banter with your fans, even when we lost. We hit 30k a few times at the Goldstone in the 70s BTW, although I don't remember us getting that sort of crowd when your team visited.

Bottom-line is that losses are capped, and if you don't have enough revenue to cover (most of) your costs then you are going to face penalties, such as transfer embargoes. Owners pumping money in is not allowable revenue, so the days of rich owners splashing the cash on expensive players are, allegedly, numbered. As pointed out, Forest et al seem to be just going for broke / ignoring FFP.

So if he comes to you AND you got promoted (we've been 6th this season too you know) he will at best warm the bench/play in the League Cup next season. He seems to be somewhat more switched-on than the average footballer; doubtless would love to play in the top flight but might consider that he's '...a big fish in a small pond where he is and the money's the same, so why move....'

I know you were above us earlier in the season, but we are getting into the business end of the season now. You may have noted that we finished 4th last season too, I'm sure Grabban will be aware of this! ;-) I cannot comment re relative wages offered, and you've seen him play a lot more than I have, but I have to say I was impressed with him in the game at the Amex, and certainly wouldn't write him off in terms of playing in the Prem. Anyway, if he has ANY ambition to get there soon, he will come to us.
