Captain Hindsight
Good Evening. Here we are at the very beginning of a two-week-long struggle for chocolate supremacy and confectionery excellence.
Already, we've been treated to the spectacle of both Time Out and, amazingly, Wispa failing to qualify.
Forty-six entrants have made it this far: the biggest field in Chocolate Championship history.
Seven groups to start, with the top TWO qualifying automatically, plus THREE third-placed 'lucky losers' (decided by votes cast, rather than percentage share)
Can the Crunchie retain its crown or will a new boy reign supreme when all is over bar the shouting?
Here we go:
Group A
Kit Kat
![k_1398709c.jpg k_1398709c.jpg](https://www.northstandchat.com/data/attachments/43/43251-bf40bf31762d72bedac07d8aa12a8ec6.jpg)
The original and, some would say, best version of the beloved Kit Kat family. Can this former heavyweight raise its game once more to compete at the top level?
Mars
![mars_1415709c.jpg mars_1415709c.jpg](https://www.northstandchat.com/data/attachments/43/43252-3fef03317bb34fbd3de596aa83f9b435.jpg)
Like the Kit Kat, would have been a serious contender in days gone by. Few chocolate bars sell like a Mars, but can it be NSC's bar of choice?
Galaxy
![galaxy-chocolate-bar_0.jpg galaxy-chocolate-bar_0.jpg](https://www.northstandchat.com/data/attachments/43/43253-d59cb85aef918f6e218b8120300921e7.jpg)
"Rich and creamy, this bar's dreamy", a rubbish advertising campaign once proclaimed. Dare the Galaxy dream of the prize still so far away?
Drifter
![Like_the_grand_canyon_Drifter_500px.jpg Like_the_grand_canyon_Drifter_500px.jpg](https://www.northstandchat.com/data/attachments/43/43254-ea9883f013fb039e1e8ee237595b5c03.jpg)
Named after a tramp, there are many depths to this chocolatey gem. Let's be honest, though: despite any level of hyperbole - it's not getting through the group.
Kit Kat Chunky Mint

Kit Kat Chunky + Mint = a solid seller. Consistent and reliable if not flairtastic and exciting. A solid third place may be enough for Round two.
