It wouldn't be the first time the LMA have stuck their nose in without knowing all of the facts

I have no idea whatsoever as to who is in the right, who is in the wrong or how big the grey area between the two is. One thing is certain though. The only people who are going to come out of this well are m'learned friends, the lawyers.

This is just getting ridiculous now, I have been fairly reserved about all that is going on but the club seems to just be digging themselves a massive hole. What a joke.

Digging a hole by telling the LMA that they have probably got their info wrong and that saying they are conducting things by the book ? It shows that the club are taking a stand against Gus and the LMA.

I really pleased the club don't appear to take no shite, from Poyet or the LMA. Strong leadership is exactly what we need atm.

This - I have total trust in TB that we are doing things properly, hence why its taking a while.

Where did I say do nothing ? You really think we can afford to just roll over and give Gus £2.5 MILLION ?

Gus needs to go, but you cant just sack people. You have to do it by the book otherwise you leave yourself open to legal action, as has happened in MANY previous cases.

looking after the interest would be saying to the manager we don't like you and what you are doing golden hand shake goodbye
"the club and Mr Poyet have decided to go our separate ways thank you "
is that not easier than this fiasco

What is wrong with this club at the moment? Why on earth do they feel they have to make this statement? Criticising the LMA will almost certainly deter future managers from joining this club. Shambles.

You're either a comic genius or the most stupid person with access to the internet, and that's not a crown you want.

To be absolutely clear to all fans, the price rises in STs, tickets, membership schemes, overpriced club shop tat, booking fees, parking charges, 'admin' charges etc will be funding corporate lawyers around £300/hour to come up with this stuff, never mind the 500 pages of 'evidence'.

This is what we have come to, ffs.

Pay off someone's £2m contract that could be used to strengthen the playing squad, or pay the new manager?

Easy for you to say when it's effectively Tony Bloom's money that you're saying should be thrown away. It'd count against us in FFP as well.

At this stage I am backing the Club. They are trying to things by the book and are an easy target because they cannot clear the record without looking like they are pre-empting the hearing. Good for them standing up against what looked like a provocative and ambiguous statement from the LMA. Probably best that both sides now keep quiet until the outcome of Thursday.

I still think that if Gus is innocent then he has nothing to fear from a hearing that should examine the evidence on its merits and decide accordingly. Who knows he might get reinstated like Tanno, although you wonder if he would stay.

I'm mindful that the Argus recently claimed that the Club offered Gus a severance package which he declined, so it has already tried to resolve this sooner and behind closed doors. OK Gus didn't have to accept a deal that might make him look like the bad guy and lose the opportunity to put his side of things at a hearing. I still wouldn't rule out a last minute deal being done on the steps of The Amex.

I agree we can do without this yes but:

Why give the man money if he has done something to affect a payoff, what ever we pay him will affect budgets for the upcoming season. TB is doing right by his club and his investment and maybe we should let him deal with it.

Still cheaper than a £2.5m pay-off to Gus.

At least the club 'appear' confident....sack Gus for £0, then sue the LMA for £10m....get Oscar in on Friday, sign Upson and David on Friday afternoon, all good for monday :)

the above happening odds 4000/1
