If Poyet goes he really is a ****ing clown. Even if he can get Reading up next season once they're relegated I still don't think anyone would respect that as much as taking Brighton from League 1 to the Prem. If he takes Reading up he does what is expected and will hardly gain any kudos. I appreciate Reading is a slight step up from us at the moment but ffs Reading! If he leaves, for one I hope he fails miserably. Yes he's done some wonderful things at this club but going to Reading really would be a slap in the face of those at this club ho have supported him.

Here's to hoping he stays and that there's nothing in this.

My activity on NSC today:-

**opens door**

"So, any actual news on what's happening?"

**surveys carnage**

"Never mind, I'm come back later"

**shakes head and shuts door**

I think its very strange though, if he wasn't going surely someone from either board or whatever would have rubbished it by now like what normally happens, I just have that feeling that he's going.

Spot on.

I think what is clear is that even if Gus stays - he will be off as soon as he is offered a prem Job. We may only have him for 8 more games anyway. Will he be fully focussed on getting us into the play offs ?

Maybe if he goes this is the best time.

was not convinced this was going to happen but the longer it goes the more concerned I become. I know it has been asked before but why Reading? I find that very strange, probably the same or lower division next year, smaller fan base and although more money via premiership no guarantee of success, just look at Bolton, wolves etc. not the special job he kept on about.

Didn't say there is a press conference. People in Brighton seem to think Poyet might not move still - but money talks #readingfc

Loadsamoney! What an ignorant twump that bloke sounds... like Reading are proper high rollers these days. Our Tony is way more minted than that Russian freak running/ruining Reading anyway... not that wealth actually matters all that much.

Why are you so sure?

1) Zero actual quotes from anyone remotely connected.
2) Doesn't make sense (from GPs perspective)
3) Doesn't make sense (from Reading's perspective)
4) GP is in the Caribbean, sipping on a Banana Daquiri
5) Entire rumour mountain built on a house of cards

But the only thing NSC loves more than a binfest is a tranfer rumour, so I'm not surprised this has taken off. Just weird that it was such a slow burner to start off with.

to be fair even TB would sell up if he had a big enough offer for the club.

Money talks in football - The only reason Gus is considering this job is because of the money involved. He could triple his wages & playing budget, despite Reading being a smaller club with worse resources and less fans.

I was talking about this the other day with a few people - some think the same as you but I think as a fan it'd have to be Mega-MEGA bucks for him to sell the club, but lets be honest if someone wanted to buy the club for the amount he'd be willing to sell for (high price I'd imagine) then the club would be well set, at the cost of the soul of the club. Anyway thats neither here nor there.

It's the Independent article that's worrying me though. Where does a figure of £2m come from? MOST of the time there's no smoke without fire. I'm just hoping this is one of those occasions where bullshit is based on bullshit and recycled.

That would be the same Independent article that says we didn't sign a striker in January?

The fact that there is a 2M compensation clause came out when Wolves were sniffing around. It's not news.

I would imagine compensation figures are based on pretty mechanical calculations from the length of contract and how much he's paid, so I'd imagine that even without any official information it wouldn't be hard to work out a ball park figure.
