So no real evidence that he's a billionaire other than unnamed sources.

OK I'll leave it at that. I'd hoped for some sort of explanation as to why the Football Rich List figure was so wrong, but the only explanation provided is because unnamed sources say so.

Those rich lists are bollocks. People can choose to not be on them at all. Noel Gallagher said they rang him up and he declined to be on the list.

Of course it can only be unnamed sources, but notice that I don't pretend to be ITK about anything else on this site. I have no reason whatsoever to make this up. My source is really quite good and again it would be pointless for them to lie when passing on what they passed on to me. Tony Bloom is COMFORTABLY a billionnaire.

Can you be an UNcomfortable billionaire?

Mr Putdown

You clearly have an agenda.

Care to share?

Happily. He is clearly very wealthy, that is obvious to anyone but I'm intreagued how he has managed to accumulate net wealth of over a billion pounds at his youthful age according to some Brighton fans on here. His total poker winnings are pretty impressive at $3,562,519 (Includes all tournament winnings), he sold Premierbet for £1m and appears to also own five company's which each have £10m of assets. All bloody impressive but miles away from being a billionaire, so where has all the other money come from?

That and I'm jealous that you have such a wealthy, supportive owner who appears to be a genuine fan to boot.;)

Still not buying it, Billionaires don't just 'slip under the radar' and have a two paragraph wikipedia page. How do you suggest he made his billion then?

How do you suggest he's spending probably circa £150m+ on the Albion? You are aware there are thousands of billionaires in the world, correct?

It didn't do him much good seeing as the Gallagher brothers appeared at number 37 on the Sunday Times Music Rich List with assets of £63m.

And that kind of supports my point.

You can spend money you don't have via borrowing. Even if he has footed the bill entirely it doesn't mean he's a billionaire. And yes there are less than 2,000 billionaires in the world, this doesn't support your case or mine. How do you suggest he made over £1bn then? I see lots of stuff on NSC which isn't true so forgive me if I'm sceptical of an unnamed source.

An article in The Argus suggests he has made shrewd investments in private equity and start up businesses and his worldwide property portfolio. There are two types of rich people , those who boast about how wealthy they are and those who don't.

How does that support your point? Noel Gallagher has previously stated those lists are complete nonsense and that the figures are total guesswork. The interview I heard from him was from a few years ago. He declined to "play ball" so they estimated him FAR lower than what the truth was. They suggested he had about 1/4 of the assets James Blunt had and he stated "I know for a fact I have a lot more to my name than James Blunt. A LOT more."

You might as well come up with the rich list yourself. Here you go:

Mellotron's Rich List 2013

1. Tony Bloom - 1 squillion pounds.

Sorted.

We do known Premierbet was sold for £1m

Sounds like TB might be quite good at making money...

"Mr. Tony Bloom Bsc. (Hons) Tony Bloom is the owner and CEO of Premier Bet. He founded the company in September 2001 after several years at senior management level within the betting industry. Tony has extensive experience and knowledge of both the Far East betting and the soccer betting markets, where he is renowned as one of the worlds leading authorities on soccer betting. In the UK, he is widely seen as the main figurehead for the promotion and development of the Asian Handicap style of soccer betting in that market. A graduate of the University of Manchester, where he gained a BSC in Mathematics, Tony began his career in accountancy before becoming an options trader in the City of London. In 1997 Tony was approached by Victor Chandler International (VCI), (one of the world's largest independent bookmakers), to set up and develop that company's Far East operation. Following the success of the VCI Far East operation Tony was appointed to the role of Trading Director of VCI in 1998. In this position, Tony was responsible for the total VCI soccer department and building it into a successful venture. In addition to his investment in Premier Bet, Tony is a respected and successful financial, business and property investor. He is also an internationally renowned poker player."

I've never pretended to be in the know EVER in my 4+ years on this site. Why would I suddenly (for no reason whatsoever) become one of those ITK pricks who makes up bollocks. The source is very good. Others here (who are not known for pretending to be ITK) also have solid sources.

You are aware that there are only 14 billionaires in England, correct? (ok 15 if you're assumption about TB is correct)

Hahahahahaha....who made that "list" then?

It seems to me that everything is rosey and should stay so.

After all, what's the worst that could happen?

Tony Bloom's investments wherever /whatever they are go tits up and he wants out of the club with whatever money he can get?

He can sell it as a going championship club with around 20 thousand season ticket holders. Probably other money men/speculators out there who may give him a few tens of millions for it.

Or no one offers him enough and he sells off whatever assets the club has, maybe a few million for some players and maybe the training centre at shoreham - that's if he owns that land, don't know if he does - which has planning permission so could build houses on it and so could bring in a few more million.

But he can't sell the amex stadium as the land it stands on is owned by the council. So there will never be permission for anything on that land other than a stadium.

And the only viable team ever likely to fill the stadium is the Albion.

And even if it all goes tits up on and off the pitch and administrators are called in to wind up the club Glasgow rangers/Portsmouth style, the club will be reborn and survive at some level, even if it means having local derbies for a few years in the amex against Lewes and Eastbourne borough and Crawley.

So if that's the very worst that can happen, just smell the roses.

Well you stated the following:-

People can choose to not be on them at all. Noel Gallagher said they rang him up and he declined to be on the list.

And I posted a response which demonstrably proved that people can't "choose not to be on them at all".

As for the accuracy of these lists then I agree they are nothing more than estimates. It's the difference between the Rich List estimate for Mr Bloom and the belief by some on here that he is a billionaire which I was interested in as it's absolutely massive.
