Thoughts on my 2nd game in the North Stand

Swapped my WSL for the North yesterday for the 2nd time (was in there for Sunderland last season). Very much enjoyed the atmosphere, good effort on range of songs and plenty noisy at times. Saw both extremes of stewarding; from the pathetic, almost riot-inducing attempt at ejecting a bloke and his son for trying to get a clear view of the game, to the young English Asian steward by me at the front, who carried out his duties with a smile, good humour and common sense throughout. Really looking forward the the North corners being ready, and hoping that some more of the atmosphere will then spread into the lower West and East.

Posh end of Shoreham
Spoke to a lot of people about the north west corner and they are thinking about moving there ( me included)
I noticed yesterday in the far corner it goes a few rows higher up used to like standing in a similar position at the goldstone by the floodlights in north west corner

Excellent. Be great if we get some proper singers in that part. I noticed there were a fair few in the North part of WSL who got going. With a bit more link-up encouragement it could be really good.

Saw this from a distance at half time what was the outcome?

It would be nice to make a second "singing section" next to the away fans in the South Stand. It already seems quite lively there at times , compared to the E & W stands anyway, I think it has potential - just needs more like minded people.

Agreed. I think this will naturally evolve over time. I sent my Scouse mate Ginger Phil in there yesterday to wind up the Geordies. Think he and others did a good job by all acoounts.

They were let back in eventually, I think on Police advice fearing it really kicking off.

Do you mean the old North East corner? That was far higher than the North West

Deep south
Cannot wait until corners filled in My seat is near the northeast corner and will feel more part of the ground /crowd once complete.

Well played Joe. You've simply realised we, the north, are better than you, a spokesperson for the west, and bravely come out and said it. I bow to your bowing.

Also my 2nd game in the North yesterday (first was Chelsea), was back row behind the goal, great view and lots of singing which was great. Would be tempted to move there from WSU if I could get a ST there. Only downside is the lack of depth perception over what's going on at the South Stand end of the pitch

North east corner was for away fans
I would guess that the new north west corner is around the same height as at the goldstone

Ah I see, in my day the away fans shared the North Stand and I stood in the North East corner

The only game I ever remember away fans sharing the north was the FA cup game 83 with Norwich
Although millwall invaded it a few times in the 70s :-(

Back in the 60's the North stand was shared and there was one game against Millwall that I remember when one of our fans shouted "He's got a shooter!". I didn't see the gun but did see the general panic that ensued!
