Should we be talking to Argentina about the Falklands?

You've ignored the second part of my post. The rest of the world is hardly likely to stand by a watch us splatter the Argies - again. At the very least they'll insist we talk.
They would indeed, the whole scenario would depend largely on how the escalation first unfolded. EG. if they staged a surprise attack of some sort on the Falklands, they would lose the moral highground, even the support of the so called 'Reciprocal Assistance' members across the Americas,..... and I know we wouldnt make any pre-empted strike,... so there you are, it will be put to bed by the vote in March, the UN cannot argue against their right to self determination as enshrined in the UN mandates, there is too much fog around the original facts of ownership etc from the 17th, 18th and 19th century, so the woman will bleat on until she is kicked into touch by the electorate, then there may be a softening by the Falklands, who will then talk about economic and logistical co-operation that will benefit both nations.

Ok sorry for my misinterpretation.

If not then why would you wish to compromise/re-negotiate with a Country that has no legitimate reason to demand it ??

Because they believe, truly believe, that they DO have a legitimate reason to demand it. (I'm going round in circles a bit here as this is where I was with Bushy at about 8 o'clock this morning)

That will be an acceptable outcome! Can we leave it there now? I've got some work to do!

I think the Falkland Islanders should start carrying out Guerrilla raid's on the Argentine Mainland. Load up a speedboat, shoot over to Argentina, smash up a news agent, bit of Graffiti and pop back in time for tea.

Do they have a football team in the Falklands? If so what World Cup section are they in? Should be South America but maybe they have a qualifying group with Tristan da Cunha..

They do have a team actually! In fact they are not a bad side to be fair considering the weather conditions they have to contend with! They also play 'internationals'! Maybe that's going a bit far but they do compete in the Island games against other small islands worldwide! One of their players when I last played down there was a certain Neil Lennons cousin Mark! A very good player indeed!

You're absolutely correct, the nuclear hunter killer submarine permanently on patrol, the fighter aircraft based there, the modern airfield ensuring rapid reinforcement capability and infantry presence would ensure they wouldn't get anywhere near the islands this time, as I said , we hold all the aces.

Attack on a Friday or Saturday night and trust me, they would take it with ease!! 🍺

Hmmm. I admit we're better prepared than 1982, but I don't think we could hold them indefinitely.
We could destroy Argentina if necessary. What do you think the US would do if someone attacked their land?
even if we were initially winning, there will be the political pressure to reach a compromise, even from our 'friends' such as the USA.
If our politicians are as soft as you, we'll give them England too.
The rest of the world is hardly likely to stand by a watch us splatter the Argies - again. At the very least they'll insist we talk.
What the hell could they do? If we explained to Argentina that if they attack the Falklands, we will attack Argentina, and kept true that promise, by the time the war (not a conflict this time) hit the headlines, Argentina would be a mess.

Because they believe, truly believe, that they DO have a legitimate reason to demand it.
Do they? How many of them have you interviewed? And what's belief got to do with anything, most people believe is a god that doesn't exist (that's a fact I can prove, in case you're wondering). If you believe (really truly etc) that my home is actually yours, I'm not going to start negotiations.

Define 'ours'. If China invaded the Scilly Isles tomorrow, kicked off the islanders and put lots of Chinese on there, how long before we gave up and said 'okay I guess they belong to China now'? Five years? 180 years? This is why negotiation is appropriate.

Should we be negotiating the handover of the Chanel Islands to the Duchy of Normany?

Do you really believe we could "destroy" Argentina?

Of course. What do you think the US would do if they were us? Enola Gay would be getting a fresh coat of paint.
