CMS first touch : mid week v Bristol C : end of discussion

Barnes scoring more , he has more clear cut chances than CMS this year that's a fact .

Without CMS goals we would be in relegation zone .

Barnes passing percentage is worst in the squad[

Have you not be watching for the last year and a half?.????

He luckily controls the ball the other night and you automatically forget the past and think he's Wayne Rooney........

No sense of reality at all... Just blinded support.

Gus admitted publicly he never played to CMS strengths last year and they are still only playing to 50 % of it this year ,

If you bought a formula 1 car would you be gutted it didn't perform we'll in rally ??

A lot of football fans seem to think you should always score a one-on-one, when in actual fact the stats show that only about 1 in 3 or 4 of them result in a goal.

Regardless of whether we play to CMS strengths I can see he has no first touch and he misses gilt edged chances, constantly.

Your right that we don't lump it for him to chase into corners so it begs the question, why did we buy him??

Scotland don't seem to want to include him in their squad now, let alone a starting place. And they are poor...

You beat me to it. Today he was an embarrasment and simply showed up what I have thought of him for 2 seasons. The sad thing is the team is set up to play around him and he isn't up to Champioship level. Look at today. The sooner we sell him the better. Nice guy but not up to it and shouldn't start a game. Hoskins is miles better.

You are obviously frustrated but your showing a Serious lack of knowledge about players.

CMS needs ball played on the deck between defenders , that chance against palace was ideal for him agreed but how many times have we played to his strengths like that . Gus admitted last year they never played to his strengths and we still aren't doing it this year , Gus knew CMS style of play when he paid for him it's up to him to start playing a system that suits him and up to know he isn't.

It's not about being "anti cms", its about our club and wanting the best possible outcomes for us. It's all about opinions. I'd love to be proved incorrect BTW.

Ok how many guilt edged chances has he missed this season , give me the facts of his chance to goal ratio this season ??

Only Gus can answer that , but it doesn't make CMS a bad player .

It's all relevant if Gus is not playing the right system for CMS then his goal scoring form will naturally drop so he will be overlooked by Scotland , again doesn't make him a bad player .

Strikers are a strange breed but you have to play their strengths there are very few strikers who can do it all , Shearer is the only one who springs to mind

All I'm saying is that you can't blame a player if the system doesn't suit him , Gus style is slow build up into last third then up the tempo and goal for the kill normally from wide areas this is not and never will be CMS style , we need a centre forward who canals with back to goal upfront on his own and link attacking midfielders in the game as they come forward and join in the pal .

That is not CMS and to be honest we don't have a centre forward who can do it , so Gus has to look at buying one that can or change his style slightly

CMS is a class act. Ok he misses some but football is a percentage game. Of course I'd like Murray partnering him, and if he were we'd be on fire, but Gus plays a different game.

CMS? Not a bad player, and he runs around allot but like Barnes needs 6 chances before scoring 1. He and Barnes cant hit a cows arse with a banjo. Give me Murray or a fox in the box any day.

Sorry but I would say there is a world of difference between bringing a ball down with relatively no pressure on you (like most people do in the park and succeed once or twice) and controlling a ball played into you and bringing other people in to play when you are up against a centre back. Unfortunately for the most part CMS is unable to do the second which in turn means that Hammond/Crofts are unable to get forward because the ball is coming back up a lot quicker than it should. CMS is nice bloke works hard and is clearly not a bad footballer but he is unable to the job that we require of him.
If we had a Rickie Lambert, Grant Holt player (don't grow on trees granted) they would not only score goals but bring the midfield in to play alot more which would in turn take the pressure off the main man up top to score all the goals.

Judging solely on the two he scored last season against Leeds you have not got a clue about composure or the skill set of a natural finisher. In both those goals he destroyed your argument, the composure of receiving his ball with his back to the goal, his standing on the ball to turn and the shot, and his second where he got his toe in ahead of the defender and the goalkeeper to snatch the second proving his goal pinching instinct.
CMS is a natural goal scorer who will get 20+ this season

Sorry pal, but you're talking absolute tosh. CMS is an athlete not a striker, sure he's got stamina and pace but his control is (usually) poor and he snatches at his shots. He does score some cracking goals, but for a striker putting away1 on 1's should be their bread and butter. When we signed CMS most Posh fans said that he is a good striker but is useless at 1 on 1's, he's just not a natural finisher and despite the 2 goals he scored against Leeds he lacks the composure needed to be a quality striker. Unfortunately the shanked attempts far out weigh the goals he's put away.

Neither Barnes or Murray are "shit" but neither of them are clinical goal scorers in the league of Murray. The need 6 chances to convert 1 between them. Not good enough and they shouldnt play together. Maybe one or other with a fox in the box but the chances they miss week in week out have gone beyond a joke.

We didn't need to change it, Gus got rid of a perfectly decent striker because he didn't want to pay a couple of grand more a week. Instead bought in a player, spunked 3m on him and doubled the wage Murray demanded. TB must be cursing every time he sees CMS miscontrol a pass and fluff sitters.
