To describe someone in such derogatory and personal terms is disgraceful and no better than those who spout racist and homophobic hatred.

Perhaps such vitriol demonstrates the extreme limitations of these people to think or play their part in a civilised society. Think about what you've posted and consider whether it is acceptable? If not, make a public apology now. Alternatively, if you think it is ok, perhaps this football club is not for you and you are probably a closet palace fan!

Everyone knows that it was originally agreed that people standing in the rear four rows of the North Stand would be tolerated BUT NOWHERE ELSE. What is there not to understand about that. Continued non-compliance could jeopardise the Safety Certificate for the stadium and can be annoying for others. All-sweater stadia came about as a result of regular crushes and injuries and nothing couldn't have been worse than what happened to the 96 at Hillsborough.

The steward will have worked to instructions and he does not need abuse from the very thick people who think it is ok to abuse anyone. Stewards are there for people's safety, YOUR safety and do not need to be abused. If someone has hit a steward, they are not a football supporter, they are a Neanderthal thug. Again, they have shown just how thick they are to assault someone where there are so many CCTV cameras. It will be recorded and the evidence will be damning, I am pleased to say.

Don't make anyone out to be a martyr, they are simply a thug and a criminal and I look forward to them being dealt with by the Club and the criminal courts. Such people are the true scum and not worthy to support our great club.

Is the safety Certificate not at risk by away support standing too, as mentioned they seem to stand throughout the game, same rule should apply shirley

Right I will tell everyone on here now what has happened tonight as I am friends with most of the stewards at the ground. The club has been warned by the f.a. Not once but twice about persitant standing so the stewards have now been told to clamp down on it in every row apart from the back 3 rows which is what everyone knew when we first moved into the stadium. Now they are not going to throw people out for standing up now and again when something exciting happens in the game but if people constantly stand up all the time then they will be warned once or twice then if they carry on they will be either taken downstairs and given a severe warning by a club official or will be escorted from the ground for that game then if they do it again in following games then they will be banned for an amount of time. The first guy ejected tonight verbally abused a female steward and has also been warned in the past about persistent standing and the second guy was also ejected for persistent standing and yes I love the hate palace stand up song as much as the next Bha fan but it seems like now it only gets sung just to wind up the stewards not to bring us all together in unity against palace. We all know what the f.a. Are like they like making examples of clubs or people so lets not let it be the Albion who get a fine or worse any points deducted or something for us as fans not sitting down when we should be. And yes I am good friends with the larger steward you guys are going on about and I can assure you he is not billy big bollocks or up himself he is actually a big Albion fan but he gets paid to do a job so he has to do it, he does not want to throw anyone out of the ground and stop them supporting the Albion but he has to do his job. Anyway that enough from me just lets everybody think about all of this before we start going off about the stewards. Cheers guys, up the Albion.

Hairy muff but isnt that the job of the club to relay? not just send in stewards willy nilly, on most occasions on youngsters who dont know right from wrong? (most saturdays) You have heard the version of your friends, the stewards? As Bozza said........

dont normally post on here but read quite a lot. Was in the row in front of where the two separate guys got thrown out. One was definitely chanting stand up if you hate palace which seems ridiculous to me.

And the second incident was with a guy who appeared to have done nothing. the fat steward (the family guy lookalike) and him to leave and the man replied 'if you tell me what ive done wrong' to with fat family guy steward replied 'ive asked you nicely, either you come with us, or you walk out'. next thing i know man has pushed family guy steward over the seats and onto me, at which point im holding fat family guy steward in my arms (mainly because i thought his weight would break my chair) before loads of stewards and police pile in.

crazy stuff. probably more interesting than the game in the end.

I've come back home.
Woodchip & Sergio's, i understand what was said but i find it a bit frustrating certainly of late that this happens! Saturdays is the tall fella steward with the glasses shouting a kids etc and this tonight, i just find it hard to comprehend they are there to help us enjoy our time. :)

The inconsistency you highlight here is the problem, If the club had imposed a strict stewarding policy from the start then at least everyone knows where they stand (or sit) but they have tried to engage and allow a positive feeling. When they do have to clamp down (different staff, new direction etc...) it sends mixed messages. So keep the same staff, with the same brief and direction and dont send mixed messages or as bozza says it'll turn into the Withdean Saga again.

There seemed to be plenty of plod around the stadium tonight which seemed strange as not many away fans and low key game. The backup of Sussex finest probably had much to do with the stewards being more active in the ground. I can see the North becoming a fan v stewards
stand-off every game now which is not needed.

giving everyone their pre palace chats???

jjt 1976- i get a different story to you- and i know stewards too
First half fan has not been warned before- and was not told why ejected
When sold tickets we were all told back 8 rows could stand- and the stewards now know that is a statement to be regeretted

What I don't understand is that there are 10-15 rows of people standing up throughout the whole game; does this mean the stewards are going to talk to them individually? I think this is going to get a lot worse before it gets any better

So who addresses the issue of away fans standing?? The last few weeks have seen some sweeping changes and as paying fans we seem to be the last to know....just like being in the Premier League.....

So now some of our fans are assaulting stewards ? Sure there may be no real reason to be removed but is assaulting a steward really the answer as its OBVIOUS what would happen - certain ejection, possible arrest and a possible ban - would have been better to just talk it out

Having you mention he looks like Peter Griffin, i now do see it !!

And to be honest quickly, as over the last few weeks it has got bad, maybe whys its only coming to light now as more peeps are becoming narked by it?!

Can the stewards just leave the north stand massive alone FFS no ones fighting anyone raping anyone no monkey chants no crowd surges no running onto the playing area nothing just people standing up making an atmosphere showing some passion I'm glad I'm in west upper out the way just able to watch the game and have a good laugh with all around us without the threat of some jobsworth steward treating me like a child if I were to stand up or show to much passion (in their eyes of too much passion )
Reading this thread as wound me up even more about our beautiful game being over sanitised

So why don't the stewards explain this to fans and are consistent about it.

Peterborough game - told to sit down, we did and were then allowed to stand for the rest of the game.

Leeds - never told to sit down at all

Bolton - ditto

Bristol - it changes again

To my knowledge the first fan ejected has never been warned before and tonight clear lies were told plain and simple

My understanding was the steward on the floor had a epileptic fit, nothing to do with being hit

Oh yeah, start using facts why don't you! I heard he was hit by a Palace fan and they caused £20,000 worth of damage

The fellow thrown out had a walking stick, looked very calm to me as he was being escorted out. The rotund Harry Potter steward looked to be having a go at him, he looked calm until Harry started pawing him...i think he may have resisted, and Harry went down in stages.....then the other stewards and the police got involved.
It was a good humored atmosphere tonight, we were winning and the whole stand seemed to be enjoying itself.
The stewards seem to be looking to stir things up, a few weeks ago a fella behind me took his shirt off, we were enjoying the laugh, and so was he, the Leeds fans had many with their shirts off.... nothing done. The chap was warned, and a few of us showed our disapproval. At half time i had a word with the steward, big chap, spoke broken English, have not seen him since.
One policeman was filming people that showed their disapproval at tonight's farce.....pretty pathetic really.
