I think it's a reasonable game for a guy who spent the vast majority of his carer playing in the bottom two divisions. Premier league opposition. Who were people expecting for Kuipers, Man Utd or Chelsea?

He had a good career with us, but he hardly set the world on fire did he?

I know a testimonial is meant to signify 10 years of outstanding service to a club, but even league 2 footballers are very well paid nowadays and are extremely well off and I can think of far more worthy recipients than to give money to than a player who averaged just 24 games a season with us.

I hope Mr Kuipers will donate his takings to a worthy cause.

Should be a good game, decent team selection too. Seriously hope the club get the pricing right on this - maybe £7.50 for Adult STHs, £2.50 STH Concessions, £10 Adults, £5 Concessions (both without ST) - could get several thousand at least with that.

To be honest I'd happily pay money to see any old Albion game at our glorious home. Especially as by August it will have been THREE MONTHS without the Albion, pies, Harveys etc

I'd even be happy with a first team Vs development squad match with Kuipers in goal for either side and Gus and Tanno getting a cameo too.

Are you suggesting supaseagull has only been an Albion fan since Feb 2004 (his NSC joining date) so did not watch Kuipers in action from 2000-3?

Testimonial money should always go to charity IMO, a testimonial is a public tribute to their achievements and not a cash bonus for any one individual.

I think he meant that supaseagull should know and appreciate all that FDM did for us, considering he obviously isn't a JCL.

Thanks. That was the other way of interpreting the meaning of the post!

I think that would actually be more fun.

Yeah esp as FDM was earning £150k a week while playing for us.
What does he need money for, it's not like he has another 60 years to live, or have a family to provide for.

Err, so you believe that everyone who plays pro football has the devine right to 'retire' at 35 and never work again?

Unfortunately for people of my age, we are likely to still be paying our mortgage well into our 60s and working into our 70s. I'm not bitter, but like FDM, I am not on 150k a week.
