Went to see Dodgy the other night and the gabbing on was awful. Was really pleased when the band made a sarcastic reference to it between tracks. Don't think it made any difference.

On a side note, I'm not a smoker but I kind of miss the smell of the fags at a gig. It used to mask much worse. The smell of BO is a pet hate. I know it's healthier than passive smoking but seriously?

I went to see PJ Harvey at the Royal Albert Hall last night and no one uttered a word during her music. I tell ye, no one at all. She played a lot off her last but one album, the rather delicate White Chalk, and the feeling of being in such a large but silent crowd listening to her perform this on such an open stage was breathtaking at times. She is one enchanting and mesmerising lady.

Is it worse when it's standing do you think? Those gigs do have that 'I'm in the pub with a pint while a band play' feel about them.

I think so. We did discuss this last night. Also, how can I say this, PJ Harvey attracts a slightly different crowd to say Kasabian.

I don't mind whooping and cheering but telling someone about your day at work is never interesting let alone during a gig.

Daniel Johnston and a silent crowd. Very very enjoyable. More gigs in churches with tea and biscuits please.

Apart from during the BSP set where the constant nattering was pretty annoying. The silence for DJ was appreciated though.

I saw someone mention the chattering on Twitter. Our crowd were very near the front so luckily, we didn't hear any of it.

Tea, biscuits, good company, BSP and DJ singing "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Your Grievances". I really enjoyed it all.

Sharon Jones seemed to be one long conversation. I also think the concorde massively oversold it.

Oh dear. I'm disappointed to hear this. Especially during an acoustic set. It is so rude and disrespectful. I was seated 3 rows from the front with Buzzer, Buzzer Jnr and Mr and Mrs Merry Prankster and everyone was well behaved and quiet for both BSP and DJ.

I noticed the Sea Power drummer had a sneaky pint...has he been struck down by a bolt of lightening yet?

Experienced this recently in London so i said something and they both moved. At another gig was stuck behind some twat reciting the chord changes of every song to his girlfriend. She and everyone else seemed far from impressed

Do not completely agree, unless you cant hear the music because someone's talking, it must be a very quiet gig... Cinema's, Theatre etc i can understand completely, but a gig...really?..

I noticed there were "Please Switch Phones Off" notices at the door to last night's gig. I might arrive early and fly-post my next show with "No talking during the performance" signs or maybe hand out similarly worded flyers on entry? Do you think this will work?

Went to see The Stranglers in Bristol last year, and 3 middle-aged blokes spent the whole gig huddled together talking non-stop, totally ignoring the band - and showing no regard for people near them who did actually want to hear the gig. Of course, you know that people who are this dumb would aggressively ask 'What you gonna do about it, pal?' if you asked them to stop talking, or go to the bar for their natter.

Seriously, why pay between £15 and £50 to see a band, and then talk all the way through it, when you could simply go the pub for free?

Mind you, I don't understand the people who spend most of a gig staring down at their bloody mobile phones either; they're favourite band is on stage 10 yards away, playing one of their best songs, and all they're interested is checking their 800th text of the day, or seeing if anyone has 'liked' their last Facebook posting. FFS - why?!!

Is it simply me getting older and more intolerant, or is it that there really are a lot more anti-social twats at gigs (and in cinemas, too!) these days. Survival of the thickest?!?!

Some gigs are rather quiet e.g. acoustic, and others have quiet passages. And when people chat they talk at a level so they can be heard. More and more people are doing it and I can honestly say that every single person I have spoken to about this has agreed with me, and performers are also raising it as an issue.

Quite a variety actually, anything from heavy metal, house, acoustic, dubstep, motown...you name it. Maybe I go to different type of gigs...

Maybe you can tune out or do you always go right near the front?
