Interesting debate....I was forced to go to Sunday School,well it was the Forties...but I have questions to ask and my points on here are all my own opinions,others are entitled to their opinions be they different or not.
First thing I noticed was the 'Faith' saying they were right and and every other religion was wrong....not a very Christian outlook...
Secondly they preached about life after Death....really...my opinion is that when you die you know nothing..you don't even know you have been on Earth or anything about life...if you did,why did'nt you know about anything before birth.....re-incarnation?....I'm so unlucky I would come back as me!!

How much of the national debt could be repaid if every church was sold to a developer. About 0.05% (that is one twentieth of 1% in case you're not sure). You might want to look up the size of our national debt and UK land values. Pretty tenuous link if you think eradicating religion is going to fix the UK economy

How much money would hard pressed couples save by not marrying at a church about £200. If you ever get married you'll know that Churches are one of the smallest parts of the cost of a wedding and no-one says you have to have fancy clothes, cars, flowers, etc... just to get married in one. It would save people more money ignoring their families and friends and not having receptions in hotels.

When secular people start saying 'your belief is bullshit, because we all know blah blah blah about so and so' is when it crosses the line.

Also when fundamentalists start preaching their belief as truth it crosses the line.

I would probably class myself as an atheist, so if he did exist I don't for a second believe he was the son of god etc. However, as to whether the person existed (and his life story twisted an re-appropriated by religion) I don't really care too much. Whether there is credible evidence or not (which does seem to be doubted) it makes no difference, imo.

I don't believe one has to be religious to lead a 'good Christian' existence i.e. follow their morals and so on.

I don't suppose you meant it this way, so hope this doesn't sound like I'm attacking you, but it reads like anyone who lives a morally good life is living a christian life, and I don't like the intimation that goodness = christian. Living your life not killing, murdring, lying, cheating, stealing etc. isn't trademarked by christians. If you live a ood honest life you are living to good morals, not christian morals.

That is a ludicrous post. I agree that rape might have been the cause (if not, it was voluntary), but I am an atheist. How can someone who believes that Jesus was the son of God, also believe it's possible that Mary was raped? To acknowledge that she was raped is to acknowledge that she pretended hers was the worlds first immaculate conception and pretended that the unborn baby was the son of God, therefore accepting that it was a lie from the start and that Jesus wasn't the son of god.

I'm a fundamentalist atheist but I don't see why US should be prevented from posting his thoughts if he wants to. If you start banning free expression of thought, you're on the slippery slope to a christian/muslim/jewish/hindu etc. society. You deal with people who have views that you disagree with by using rational scepticism or ignoring them, not banning them.
