The caterers are letting down the stadium

Talking from experience, a new restaurant/menu rarely starts at full tilt. I would expect options to be added and times to be relaxed

It's actually gone the other way. They started at "full tilt" and after (alleged) feed back stopped meal and time selection. Its now a single fixed meal at 1pm.

I had a hot dog on Saturday, no onions offered and sausage was anemic! I won't be having another, thanks!

I actually wanted a burger but at 2pm was told "sorry sold out"... Ah well , at least they apologised for that!

Love the stadium and hope they iron out these problems soon!

Food is better than Withdean and Goldstone, non english speaking people serving is not a great idea,ok the club has banned outside burger stalls, but they should buy thier own burger stalls and sell outside though, the money still goes to club this way.

There is a catering stand just behind us in the disabled area, it was open for the Donny game, but shut last night. All of the seats in this corner were taken, so couldn't understand why it would be shut last night. Also I owe the pie makers an apology. I moaned that the steak pie I had last Saturday was rank. It turns out that it was a substitute pie as they had run out of the nice ones. I had a chicken and ham pie last night, and it was bloody gorgeous. So I apologise to Mrs pie lady.

Had a hot dog at the SSC game - was disappointing and the roll was a bit dry (but not as bad or disappointing as the £5.50 hot dog I had at the Goodwood Festival of Speed)

Had a hot dog pre-match for the Donny game, really very good. Sausage was well cooked and good quality meat.

Last night I had a Steak and Ale pie with a generous serving of mustard on top... was piping hot and tasted superb!

this is the 4th game in a row people have reported this - and frankly as an outsourced service, the club should be pissed off at the service they're receiving. do the training in the day and ensure the service is as good as possible.

Exactly. I think that's why the caterers are annoying me. All the feedback on here (which the club has asked for and requires incidentally for those who bang on about 'whingeing') has been acted on swiftly by the club over the four games so far and there have been visible improvements. But the issues that have been raised about the things that involve the caterers don't seem to be improving to the same extent. For instance, staff poorly trained - train them. But there's been little if any improvement at all.

This has got to get sorted. The girls serving in wsl south end on Saturday was taking about a minute per customer, and then double charged my card I found out later. It doesn't take a genius to work out that is losing the club a fortune.

I think that anyone in 1901 with problems should surely take up that problem with 'Ask the Club' as their contract would be somewhat more specific.

As regards the general catering in the rest of the stadium, I think we have to cut a bit of slack to Azure who, as the franchisees, I suppose, need to rely on direction from the club in terms of how many are going to attend the next match and accordingly how many pies (real ale, chicken and ham, and vegetarian) are likely to be required. What they do with the other things, like burgers etc., who knows.

I sadly think, as a ST in the WSU that, there, the space available for selling refreshments is a bit limited, though, I am sure it will be better the further down ( ie levels ) one goes as space becomes less critical. This is something I am going to flag up to Insider once I have finished this post.

The caterers are patently still only selling a fraction of what they could if they got their act together. The NorthStand concourse is cramped and the queues are always crap unless you get there within about five minutes of the place opening. And you can forget half time unless you want to miss a large chunk of the match. And no matter how small the queue for a pie in Dick's Bar, that queue will still move slower than a Post Office queue. They have no idea how much potential custom they are missing out on. And at ground level, they don't really care. Why should they?

Had 2 very decent cheeseburgers, not dry at all, both purchased before kick off v Donny and Gills, so maybe it's luck of the draw with the burgers, or perhaps they arn't so good at half time?

Will try the pies at some stage, but wish the thai curry was back on.

Mrs (on her first trip to the Amex) says to guy behind the counter
"i hear these pies are really good. Which is the best?" Bloke serving. "dunno i haven't tried them". She then order a steak and got a chicken & ham which was very nice by all accounts, as was the vege pie. Another minor annoyance was is the lids that don't fit on the tea....still early days.

this thread is so gay...in my day a hot dog outside the ground was as good as it got.

so ungrateful.

it is a football stadium with thousands of people, not an interval at the ballet.

Yep. I've never been bothered about eating at the football before. But one reason for forking out £1400 a year was because the facilities sounded fantastic. The lounge is as great as promised.. but Azure shut all the bars at 10pm last night. And there's no middle ground at all between a £38 a head sit-down meal (with no choice offered) or a pie. Again, pretty crap. I suppose that's what annoys me. In fact, in the 1901 you can't even get the pie and a pint deal thats available everywhere else in the ground.

People are paying premium prices for the least amount of choice.

There doesn't appear to be too many 'smart' people serving in the East Stand concourse. An example is the Harvey's beer stand. 2 people working on it, one taking money, one pulling pints. The person pulling the pints waits until the customer has paid before pulling the next pint. I suggested that she just keeps pulling pints while the other one took the money which would speed things up massively. She smiled and continued on as she had been. The catering/refreshments appear to be the only real complaint at The Amex and the club do need to get it sorted. The teething problems at the SSCF should not still be around now. Actually the queues for the toilets need to be addressed too, needs one entrance and one exit-this is not a moan, more of a suggestion to make things easier.

If the club hadn't made such a ballyhoo about how great the concourses would be for refreshments there wouldn't be people offering their feedback for a service that isn't functioning.

Get used to it-football (and The Albion) has changed and with that comes greater demands and expectations which includes not having to wait 20 minutes to buy something to eat and drink (not all of us live near enough to get fed in town or at home-especially mid-week).
