That's a bit optimistic Shirley, he got 22 in a team that won the division, now moving up a divivsion playing for relegation battlers ???
Shirley? Anyway, I think we will be far too good for a relegation battle next season I am being the ever optimist and targeting a top 10 finish or even play offs for us next season, I reckon you may fair ok - maybe mid table.

Every source and every newspaper says it done with Palace, the formalities are complete..... which means he's signed. It just the official announcement that's missing. Saints or Millwall is now just wishful thinking.

Murray who said he "respected albions fans" is choosing to join their bitter and hated rivals.

He deserves no respect and every bit of angst and anger coming his way.

Oh for goodness sake he's a bloody footballer who needs to earn a living. Do you really think he should take into consideration the fans feelings when he is negotiating his next contract especially when he is unemployed. By all means slag him off when he was here if you didn't feel he gave us value for money but please just move on now.

Palace fan loses touch with reality shocker. You've just avoided relegation by a whisker 2 years in a row, now all of a sudden you're expecting to transform into promotion contenders. Back in the real world the neutral observer - i.e. every single bookmaker giving odds on your next season has you down as being as shit next year as you have been previously. Guess what - they seem to think we will fare better, but what do they know, eh?

To be fair thats exactly what we did, then Murray turned amazing, and BANG, promotion!

To be fair it was down to the style of play employed by our manager and coach. At the end of the year in which Poyet joined we had a fantastic run-in as the style of play really started to show. Can't see much improvement now Freedman has been in charge a similar time. I've no idea how Brighton will do in the Championship but the idea that Palace can change from donkeys to thoroughbreds is a bit far-fetched. That's why the bookies have given such long odds on them winning. What was our odds at the beginning of last year compared to Palace's odds now?

Can you give any details as to why you're so optimistic, other than signing Murray(maybe) what has changed so dramatically?

Bloody hell US, there's a lot of bitterness and supposition masquerading as fact in your analysis.

I HATE Mondays so everyone is getting it today.

I totally agree JDDS, Murray did nothing for 2 seasons as we played a more direct game. I have seen Palace this season a few times and they are poor and play direct. Murray is skillfull, but he is going into a team that plays direct football....sure he'll win a few in the air, but he won't get the same kind of service he did this year.

I honestly think Freedman is totally out of his depth, The new captain of the titanic after it hit the iceberg.... a Dean Wilkins type given the job because of his loyalty to the club, when nobody else wanted it.

Freedman seems to have decided his best hope of any success is to try and copy Gus's transfer targets and/or pay well over the odds for any of our players in a desperate attempt to avoid relegation..... all the while his better players are jumping like rats from his sinking ship.

Did you know that Murray, although he's excellent in the air, has some nice touches and knows where the goal is, is possibly a bit slow for a Championship striker? You have potentially bought a very good player but question marks remain about whether he can make the step up. I wouldn't expect him to necessarily make the dramatic difference to your team that you seem to be expecting.

Murray being 'slow' is a fallacy. He's not lightning quick, but like Forster, has a pretty good burst of speed over 5-10 yards.

To finally put you out of your misery, the "official confirmation" of the signing will be taking place either Tuesday or Wednesday this week.

I didn't actually say he was slow did I, I said possibly a bit slow for the Championship? His burst of speed may have been enough in League 1, we'll find out if it will be in the Championship. I'm not convinced it will and long before the current shenanigans it was something that I thought may go against Glenn in the Championship. We'll have to wait and see.

He's a good player, and he'll do well. About 15 goals, I reckon, which would be a pretty respectable return.

with one key difference: Wilkins was pretty good. unless the Palarse managment inject a substantial amount of cash, they will be using the academy and a few journeyman to suppliment what they currently have, so really dont see why they expect to turn the ship into a blue ribbon challanger.
