Where do new Albion players stay.

Often wondered ,when new players sign on, what sort of accommodation do they have? At one time the Albion had their own houses . Perhaps someone could confirm that or did I dream it. For instance supposedly the young Argentinians are in a hotel?

Do young players stay with a family?

there was a documentry or somthing following Pethick (?) where some players were staying in a house owned by the club, or at least that was the impression. it would certainly make sence with loanees and new players constantly coming in to have some digs.

I think Greer said that they were all in a hotel together

Yeah, Steve in the Podcast refers to a hotel with a view of the station and a car park, so sounds like it is (the Jury's Inn, that is).

I know some young players, in the olden days, used to stay with various families. A few lived up my road and when he first signed, Kurt Nogan lived there too. Used to see him driving home in his red citreon after games. Jack Dineen lived there too, but who cares?!

If the club ever trades profitably again, it might be worth buying some 'players' flats in Brighton for them to use when they first move here. It must be pretty soul destroying living out of a suitcase in a hotel.

Wasn't that documentary called Football Diaries, which featured Weymouth FC when Robbie Pethick was there?

I think that it was in Wardy's book that I remember reading that back in the 70's if we were trying to sign a player Bamber would put them up for the night in The Grand with a sea-view room and breakfast in bed. Some players have spoken about that experience being the clincher for their signature.
