I liked Clarkson. He wasn't that bad.

.

Yeah agreed..Dave Clarkson was an excellent player.. he just never got the chance of a decent run. Should have been picked ahead of Codner IMO...

I liked Clarkson. He wasn't that bad.

Likewise, he was very young when he played for us and as I recall went home to Australia after one season, later playing in the World Club Championships.

I can remember watching him in one game, he was victim of a really bad challenge towards the southwest corner of the Goldstone...Steve Foster appeared to be having a conversation with him whilst he was being treated by the physio. A few minutes later the perpetrator of the tackle ran past Foster in the centre circle, the bearded one raised his hand to scratch his head, his opponent ran into his elbow and went down like a sack of spuds.

I am guessing that the Foster to Clarkson exchange went something like "you get on with the game, I will sort out the dirty twat for you!"...which seemed to be the result!

Drive by abusing
Paul Kitson for me waste of time & money. Also i know only a loanee but what did Robbie Savage do other than run around like a headless chicken & commit fouls?

£125,000 for Jake Wright seems a bit of wrong'un too

Beat me to it... It's right up there with Turienzo for me!

125k for 6 appearances then given a free transfer... :albion1:

Now lads I just wont have this one. Jake Wright was never given a proper chance. Saw him play in the JPT at Orient when he was played at what was his best position, MOM outstanding and he been awesome at Oxford according to a colleague who is a season ticket holder.

In the interest of fairness, Jake Wright's name should not be placed in the same vein as others in this thread.

Not his fault we let him go on a free.

We are confusing worst PLAYERS with worst SIGNINGS..

Worst player = bad footballer we signed, regardless of fee = David Adekola/Michael Mahoney-Johnson

Worst signing = bad footballer + transfer fee + wages...

Opinion?

Turienzo.

Had the pleasure of seeing both Tiltman and Neal play for the Albion. Tiltman was awful, and as for ASHLEY NEAL words fail me !

Seriously, how had Johnny Dixon not got more of a mention?! I have rarely seen a player who looked less likely to make any impact on a game. My mate is a Crawley fan and he is still laughing now that we actually paid money for what was essentially a fat music producer.

Also, Paul Kitson for value for wages, Turienzo for value for overall money and Graeme Smith for overall shitness.

PS. Jake Wright should not be in this thread.

I agree he was by no means the worst player to play for Brighton, I quite liked him. I was going on worst SIGNING. But 6 apperances, it equated to almost £21,000 per game in fees, and that doesnt include a few months wages we paid him too.

So in my opinion, thats a pretty shocking signing.

As I said earlier in the thread, Dickinson for £300,000 was pretty bad value too

I think the four main candidates must be Jason Peake, Glen Thomas, Turienzo and based on his reputation before he came to us and what we expected from him Mickey Thomas.
