Does anyone still think Capello is the man for the Job ?

Until this thread it seemed to me that the fans and current players wanted him to stay, it was just the media and the pundits they invited to speak that talk about him going.

I still think Capello is man for the job.

Let's face it, if Capello leaves the FA will only be able to afford a Tesco Value manager. Unless Hodgeson wants the job, keep Fabio on - he might even be able to learn from his mistakes and get us a decent result in the Euros.

In spite of our rubbish performances, I think the England team has come a long way since umbrella-gate.

He has to go in my opinion.

This should kick off the debate, Harry Redknapp has to be offered the job in my opinion.

Has Harry Redknapp ever managed a side successfully when he hasn't been able to buy players to excess? I'm not sure he can coach a given set of players - he has no experience of top level football e.g. Champions League.

Capello has made mistakes but I think he deserves another tournament. He now needs to show cojones by waving goodbye to most of "the golden generation".

How much Top level managerial experience has the German manager got...or Maradona for that matter...never even managed before.

Its about getting the best out of your players at the top level. Getting that extra 10%, you can't coach players at international level.
We need someone who can build a realtionship with the players, make them want to play for you and give you that extra 10% but also remain in charge without being too pally.

Mourinho is the perfect example of this and i think Redknapp is the best English Manager we have at this.

Who is better than Fabio out there??

This is not the time for knee jerk reactions.

He made mistakes in this World Cup, we can't argue about that, but this is his first major international tournament, I am sure he has learned from it and will be better for the next Euros.

I am still firmly behind Fabio, he's signed a contract until after the next Euros and I expect he will honour it.

More reason to get of the under-performing players then.

We have some excellent players, most of them under performed because they were played out of position, we think that our players are so good we can play our best ones out of position and get away with it, we cant do that.

Who has a better record than Capello? If he can't get the players to perform then I really fear for us. I blame the players for this much more than Capello. I'm fully behind Capello the same can't be said of the 'Golden Generation' though

If he does go I cross everything that it won't be Redknapp. Hodgson is the only English man worth even interviewing

Hes paid 6 million a year to get things right not to miss the obvious.

Do you honestly beleive that in the next England friendly Capello if he remains in charge he wont pick Gerrard on the left and Rooney not furthest forward....

Capello should stay. Whoever else comes in will have the same bunch of under performing plankton to work with.

I think Capello should now start casting his net far and wide.

Mourinho is the perfect example of this ...

That would be the Mourinho who claimed, when he left Chelsea, that John Terry had told the Chelsea board that he (Mourinho) had lost the support of the players.

So, you think the way to create more harmony between manager and playing staff is to appoint a manager who's only experience of English football resulted in a complete breakdown of relations between players and manager? Brilliant.

Harry Redknapp sorry Marshy I can't see why? Yes Capello has made mistake like all Managers, but he took the best we have out there and they did not perform once.

Time to give Capello a chance to clear out all the crap and bring in the youngsters, bit like the Germans. He gave the old guard a chance to prove they were "world class" and they failed.

Just think what would the nations reaction would have been, if when he took over left Terry, Lampard, Barry, etc out saying they are not the future, and we did not qualify. He gave them their chance and they blew it.

We are all disappointed yes, but changing the Manager every 2 years is not the answer in my opinion. So let get the new era in and see where that takes us , cause the old have made a fine mess of things and don't seem that bothered.

Nah - we fail at international level because of the way we approach football in England.

Changing managers isn't the thing; we need structural change.

In Germany, the national team is seen as the pinnacle. Its success is an objective in all the strategic decisions made by the DFB.

Contrast that with the FA, whose approach is to try and offset the fact that the moneybags clubs run football for their self-serving ends by paying absurd sums of money to the national team manager.

So let's decide: either accept we'll never win another international title, or root and branch reform. Stop riding both horses.

We qualified comfortably, but once again when the tournament arrived, we absolutely STANK the place out. Same players, same old story.

Capello has brought success everywhere he has gone in his glittering career...except England. Frankly I think that says a lot more about our players than it does Capello.

Are we SERIOUSLY saying its not the players fault, its Capello's ? Honestly ?

Exactly. 8 qualifying games into a 9 match campaign, we had WON eight and qualified. We lost the 1 game that didnt matter.

Germany was the first time we conceeded more than one goal in a competitive match. Yes he made mistakes, but who doesnt.

I like him and he puts the ego billy bignuts in the squad in their place.

John Terry is the one ripping the team up, by trying to get his own way, without the backing, and performing abysmally on the pitch. Get him OUT

It would be madness to get rid of Capello. He is clearly a good manager, and I'm confident that he can build a great team over time. He has suffered the same indignities as previous England managers thanks to repeating the belief that some of the higher profile stars might pull their fingers out of their arses and perform in an England shirt. I hope he will have learnt from this and we don't have to go through the process again.
