I refuse to go to the withdean anymore. The stewards are kicking anyone out who tries to get the fans going. They should really think about treating the away fans the same! bunch of wa.nkers!

I wouldn't call making rude gestures towards the away fans "getting the fans going", but hey that's just my opinion.

The stewards last night were no worse than stewards in other grounds.

Yes i do sit in H block. The reason i sit there is because i want to have a good laugh making some atmosphere and get behind the team! Then miserable fu.cks like withdean wanderer who proabably sit there all game with there flask just complain why we dont win at home! If you tried to make some atmosphere the players might acutually respond! All im saying is the stewards just dont allow any kind of atmosphere to be produced!

DJMILES. I have never been to a ground were the fans are treated as bad as they are at withdean by the stewards!

Well as it happens, there was a bloody good atmosphere last night coming from all round the ground - everyone except the absolute spanners in H block were able to do this without objecting to the fact that they had to sit down.

There is more atmosphere at funerals than along the south stand! If you actually looked H block did sit down when asked to by the stewards even though the away fans were on there feet all game!

Lad behind me in H Block got chucked out last night for no good reason other than being maybe a bit more vocal in his criticism of the Albion going 2-0 down than the rest of us. No warnings, no nothing, just out the door. What's that all about?

There must be a set of ground rules that they are inforcing somewhere.

The stewards in the North stand are fine, but then again I don't spend the match stand up in front of others and chanting verbal abuse.

I'm sure if you sat down without swearing you wouldn't even notice the stewards.

Thanks for that lost post. The reason i started this thread was because of that incident. I came to the game with a few mates and the kid who got kicked out was one of them. I admit he had been drinking but he wasnt being violent he just went a bit over the top when we conceded the second goal. If they had kicked everyone out yesterday who said anything similar to my mate the ground would of been near on empty by the end.

H block seems to be getting more and more tedious. I have a season ticket towards the back of H block, and the constant standing up sitting down is pointless. The reason i sit there, is probably not due to the atmosphere because to be fair its not great anywhere, its more to the fact that when we are on the attack the me and my mates prefer to stand when watching. I get the feeling if i was sat somewhere else in the ground i would get a bollocking for doing so. I know its illegal to stand, but what im getting at, is that for periods yesterday we were all over Colchester and when we're on the attack its nice to stand when watching just for 5 minutes or so. However, some of the people in the stand are putting me off sitting there week after week. I dont get involved in the stewards abuse, because they are paid to get people to abide by the rules, and i suppose that is sitting down in all areas.
Yesterday we had someone nearby who for the entire game ruined it for the group of us. This kid who had apparently had 2 cans strongbows pre game was absolutely of his nut, and was sick 2 or 3 times over the back of the stand. Added to this was the fact he insisted on verbally abusing all his mates and stewards as well as people around him. We would have moved, but seeing as these are season tickets we'd rather not, and with 5/6 of us it would have meant sitting in crap seats in order to still be together.
I think a majority of people are not entirely aiming the abuse at the stewards, its more that their an easy target to vent frustration upon. What annoys most people, as well as the shit results on the pitch, is that H block is supposedly the "singing block". Thing is, anyone who stands to try and get the stand to sing appears to be thrown out, which kind of defeats the object of that area.

in thier defence (the stewards) i had a chat with 1 last night and he told me and i have no reason whatsoever to not believe him thier directive is now no warnings for fans who they deem to be causing trouble by for example making racist remarks homophobic gestures ect ect your out and thats that.

so i asked do the stewards have the same policy in the away end and he replied yes absolutely,so i take that as somebody doing thier job as directed not because they just fancy slinging sombody out.

the atmosphere was quite good for withers i thought,i chose to sit in g block and apart from some ex lover of navvaro giving him shit all night the crowd around me got behind the team without 1 of them being lobbed out.

horses for courses i suppose if you have a job your paid to do,you wouldnt last long not doing it. So while i understand peoples views on what is seemingly victimisation of the h blockers i do have a modicom of sympathy for the stewards whom are just doing thier job.

I think the stewards need to have some kind of a structured system. This is because they seem to haven diferent rules for the home and the away end. The away fans seem to be able to stand all game without anyone being slung out can someone explain this?

You can be chucked out for:

-Foul and abusive language,
-racial abuse,
-standing on seats or in seated sections,
-standing in stairways or walkways

In all instances you should be advised first and if you persist you can be ejected. Being drunk in the stadium could lead to arrest so if the lad in question was ejected he should think himself lucky he was only kicked out and not arrested.

Well then, it must be a total travesty if "he wasn't being violent"!

The parts of the above story in bold, are pretty 'key', I would have to say.

Yes that is fair enough. I know that he did shout some abuse but he didnt do anything else that was against the rules. It wasnt like no one else shouted any abuse during the game was it? Also i didnt say he was drunk i just said he had been drinking. A warning would of been fair then if he didnt stop then i wouldnt have complained if he got ejected
